Our roster has more holes than Swiss cheese at the moment, and over the years, some of our best young talent has been poached by other clubs.

Hopefully, we're aggressive with a couple of smart signings after November 1st.

Newcastle and the Warriors have proven that your claim is wrong. Penrith always proves it wrong, as do the Roosters. Next man up is real and is the standard we need to strive for.
Melbourne are entitled to have an off year every once in a while. They’ve played the GF 3 times since 2020. They’ve also played another 2 prelims in that time.
Brisbane…that was a lucky premiership last year. They should have lost every finals game in that campaign but somehow didn’t. They wear their heart on their sleeve and throw caution to the wind…that loses you a lot of games when Lady Luck has left you.
Bulldogs…they aren’t in the same conversation.

Their job is made easier by all the media reports and innuendo about players that are still contracted, but likely to be surplus to requirements as well as the ones that are contracted, but supposedly want out such as today’s report about Jordan Riki.
This does not require experience, but they need to be alert to all the rumours, have a good relationship with as many player managers as possible and most importantly have a bit of common sense.
Benji has made it well known in the past while our previous CEO was at the helm, that he did not want it respect the opinion of a recruitment manager he is not close with and does not trust, so he was give power to make all these decisions himself with the assistance of Shannon Gallant.
So Benji now has exactly what he wanted, so any failure in the recruitment and retention space falls solely on him.
In Benji’s defence he has obviously recognised our backline is far too slow and lacks quality on the right, so has recruited Jake Averillo to try and help fix this problem.
Hopefully Benji is now aware that Jake Averillo alone is not enough and is in the process of signing another quality outside back to increase competition for positions and our depth.
Benji was smart enough to realise we need more depth at 9 and has recruited a tough tackling experienced player in Jayden Brailey.
Benji would also be well aware of our emerging younger players who should all be another year older, wiser and better in 2027, so it’s a juggling act as to how many of our emerging players will be genuine NRL contenders or depth in 2027 and how many more recruits are required.
Benji wanted to be in charge of all of this, so now it’s up to his judgement to get it right.

This isn’t a line in the sand moment. That time has passed.
You are making more excuses for his poor output. He needs help in the head coaching role and he had better accept that help or he can Phar Cough.

How many of our young blokes skip through the senior grades?
The only one we were developing properly was TDS.

You can knock a fullback defensively, but personally I would back myself to beat the fullback 9 times out of 10

And defensively if I was matched up against a attacker with the same speed .....maybe 5 out of 10 ......you have to try and outsmart the attacker ......feed him one side of the field ......take space away from him to speed up his decision offensively , even fake indecision to try and get the attacker to do what you want him to do and make him think it's his decision
And all this happens in a split second .....get it wrong and you look like an idiot

But in saying all that the 80s were a completely different thought process ....you had leather balls so if it was wet you'd do different things than if it was dry

Benji built our roster and some good young talent left because of him.
These excuses are self inflicted.
We can’t shake the recruitment tree. We have to bring those already here up to a strong consistent level.
Benji can not do this on his own and requires help. I don’t care if it bruises his ego, the club will be shit again next year without it.
