Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

If we have signed fonua and taane our salary cap must be getting closer to full. I know were getting rid of 4 players already plus another 5-8 players like lovett, edwards etc but we would be creeping up on it. No million dollar players anyway. Just good first graders.

The boys who have already signed ie Reynolds, Matulino, Packer, McQueen, etc must be getting excited with the team that Ivan is assembling.

Hooray to Ivan.

Next on the list a solid backrower and prop

1\. Lolohea
2\. Nofo
3\. Suli
4\. Milne
5\. Rona

6\. Reynolds
7\. Brooks

We wouldn't get a better backline than this for 2018!!!!

Look at this. This is the best news I have read. No one is a superstar but all can grow and all seem to be fairly similar. The only problem is everyone except Nofo and Suli are new to this back row. But it is a tough back row, lets hope they can learn to defend together.

Now where does Fonua fit in this? I don't get why we would sign him and the people above. (I assume we are keeping Nofo). There should be room for our Juniors to come through and prove their worth, NOPE that room is not on the starting side but probably the bench. Maybe Fonua isn't happening and Rona got in first.

Rona and Fonua would compete for one wing I guess but also gives us solid depth incase of injuries which we really don't have atm. Fonua also coverage as a centre as well.

Yes. Though im uncertain we will get another front rower. Think we might have to wait until next year.

If Grant takes up his option i think we have our full quota of props for next yr in Packer, Matulino, Sue, Grant, Felise, Twal with Aloia also able to play up front and Tatola staying on. Even in a 30 man squad only so many spots for props

Yes but our young guys will have to step up. I like the look of twal. Hel go great. I would of liked lawrence from manlyor paasi. However i think grant will be our option for next year. He tries hard. Just so slow. But we need the experience on the bench.

Honestly the more i look at our pack the mors im ok with how it is. Id prefer moving ET to the edge and putting Aloia at lock though. Be a strong pack then.

Rona is miles ahead of Nofo. Haven't seen Fonua in years but I think he'll be competing with Nofo for the other wing spot.

True, maybe they'll use Twal and Felise for the bench props.

Agree. I think that with the new look pack, ET will thrive. Let's not forget that he has good ball skills and it is only under the current circumstance with our pack going backwards that he has been required to do 50 odd tackles per game. Love to see him on the same side as Reynolds, Milne, and Rona.

I would also love to see Aloia play lock, ET in the second row and on the edge, Marsters and Felise off the bench as an impact players for the rest of the season. Might as well get them into the groove now. It is better to make mistakes this year and learn rather than next year when it counts. I think that they will also learn plenty from Teddy and Woodsy.

Twal, Felise and grant. I dont like having two rookies on the bench as a rotation Grant has a one year optiin. We might actually need him even thohgh i hate to admit it. Or brenton lawrence.
