I don't get the hate for Beale. He is really quick and elusive. He is another option for our outside backs.

Would be a good signing ..Depth and an experienced player ,face facts the ISP team is a disgrace to say the least.

We need depth don't we.

The thing is Beale isn't going to a club to play the majority of the season in ISP…or get paid a contract which is ISP equivalent. He will want a starting FG salary wherever he goes.

I saw him play the other day and he was lightning. At the very least he is going to be a good option for the first grade team.

Take it with a grain of salt but Ali reporting that we're after Jorge Tafua. I find this interesting considering to my knowledge Rona has signed an intent to commit letter but more competition doesn't hurt.

At least Corey Harawira-Naera knows he can trust Penrith Panthers teammate Nathan Cleary. During his contract negotiations a couple of months ago, Harawira-Naera went out to the Cleary residence to meet with Ivan Cleary about the prospect of joining him at the Wests Tigers next season. There was Nathan, lurking in the background.

"It was pretty funny. We had a meeting with him at his place and Nathan was home," Harawira-Naera said. "He had to keep a quiet mouth around here. He couldn't really say anything. It was a bit weird. But Ivan is a nice guy. He did have me sold. It was hard to backdoor it on him, but I'm glad I did because I never wanted to leave. Ivan knew that I didn't want to leave, so when he found out Penrith placed an offer he knew my mind would have changed real quick.

"I was pretty close to going there. It was a bit hard because my mind was made up to go to the Tigers, but once they showed interest here, I wouldn't say I backflipped but it changed my mind. I didn't want to leave the Panthers. As soon as the opportunity came up to stay, I signed straight away. I'm really humbled and blessed the Panthers offered me a few more years. I owe them and I'm in debt to them for what they've done and the faith they've shown in me."

Panthers are looking to lock Nathan Cleary up until 2024 with a $600k per year deal… I hope Ivan advises his son against it... NC doesn't need the pressure that comes with a 7 year commitment

Is this for real?

No way I'd be recommending that deal.

They like locking up mid range offers on very long term deals.

Why would Nathan Cleary even consider this offer.
2018 Ben Hunt to be paid $1.2m, Jack Bird $1 plus, Ash Taylor reported to be offered $1m in new contract.
And Nathan potentially NSW next Origin half accepting $600k. Not going to happen.

Penrith Panthers in talks to sign Nathan Cleary until end of 2024

NATHAN Cleary could become the richest teenager still living at home with his parents after Penrith started talks over a lucrative five-year $3 million contract extension.

The prodigious halfback, who will come up against his father and Wests Tigers coach Ivan Cleary for the first time at NRL level on Sunday, still has two years remaining on his Panthers deal.

But with inevitable talk of a future family reunion at the Tigers, Penrith hope to lock him in for seven years and keep him at the foot of the Blue Mountains until at least the end of 2024.

Despite being just 19, Cleary is viewed as a future Penrith skipper. The lucrative deal illustrates Penrith’s faith in him leading them well into the next decade.

“He would be our No.1 priority at this point,” Penrith prop James Tamou said.

Panthers Group chief executive Brian Fletcher spoke with Cleary’s management late last week.

Fletcher declared the talented No.7 could be the “Johnathan Thurston of Penrith”, four years after Panthers supremo Phil Gould failed in his audacious bid to sign the North Queensland superstar.

If Cleary re-signs, he would next come off contract at 26, an age when most playmakers enter their prime.

There appears little doubt, given his already rapid rise, a mature and polished Cleary would then be worth well in excess of $1 million a season.

“We have opened negotiations with Nathan’s manager. We are looking at him as a long-term player and leader. He could be the Johnathan Thurston of Penrith,” Fletcher told The Daily Telegraph.

“Adding five years to his current contract would be the preferred amount.

“He is only young. Nathan will only be 26 years old when he comes off contact, if we are successful in re-signing him.

“Nathan is very level-headed and has all the talents. He was developed through our academy and he came through the grades.”

Cleary said he was coping well with the strain and demands of NRL football, but expected that to be tested even further at Pepper Stadium on Sunday when he faces his father’s team.

Teammate Dallin Watene-Zeleniak, who will come up against older brother Malakai for the first time just four months after playing alongside him at Penrith, has already offered Cleary a room at his place this week, albeit tongue-in-cheek.

“There will be a bit of banter at home,” Cleary said. “We are both very competitive. It won’t have that much of an impact on our lives.

“Dad knows my game best so it’s weird he will be trying to take me down this week.

“That’s probably the biggest thing — it’s more the emotional side than physical. I’m just doing my best each week,” he said. “There are a lot of ups and down in a season. This is my first full season.”

Tamou said his club would be “desperate” to retain Cleary.

“He is definitely the future of the club,” Tamou said. “He is such a talent. The way he has been playing over the last month, he has really turned it on.”

I agree with you…I mean Brooks is on $550 and he is no where near Cleary

Haven't read through the whole thread but what happened to the two signings supposedly in the cooling off period. 10 business days have come and gone and just like the Connor Watson tip, nothing has transpired.

Don't believe anything you read on here

Nothing has been announced so I am pretty sure that those signings aren't happening or were never happening.

Stay tuned next week. A forward and back will be added to the roster for 2018+

Not massive names but first graders this year.

in this video from the 3rd of May , Gould says they'll move shortly to lock up Nathan for life .

Well it's nearly 3 months from then & now another story about signing him up long term .

I think Gus will regret sacking Ivan .
