Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

So before this signing we had 5 options in halves, and 4 options at hooker. Did we need more depth in the halves and hooker? I dont think we did. He certainly isn't a fullback option.

Pretty sure we only had two serious contenders for hooker in Liddle and McIlwrick. I wouldn't be counting Reynolds and Taylor. These aren't the Jason Taylor days where anyone can play hooker

sorry to have to say this but IVAN has gone from the penthouse to the sewer, really like all his signing up untill this one, why the hell waste money and a spot on a 3rd grade player, we need a backrower with punch, gee i hope IVAN has not lost his way.

Taylor is good enough to play hooker in a test and play well then he is a reasonable option in any case let alone if we get hit by injuries. There's no need to waste a spot on a back up half and hooker. We are well covered.

Woow. What signings we announce, many of these signings are a waste of money :brick: How embarrassing when even Newcastle will smash us next year and lose the first 4-5 games :unamused:

All the player movement over the last few months of quality ..yes this signing really resonates what it actually means to be Weststigers! Nothing new with this type of signing another plodder Oh Well.

This is a really weird signing. I get he's supposed to be a utility but, surely we could have done a little bit better.

We also need to fill the reserve grade team dont we?
In any case, he is a tricky customer with a bit of pace from dummy half, hopefully he can push the firsts.
Welcome Pita!

Goodo plenty of money in the tank for when Ethan Lowe or Boyd Cordner or Matt Gillet or Josh Jackson or Coen Hess or James fisher Harris or Toho Harris all become available.
You guys need to be patient.
Hands up, who would have called Luke Lewis a barnstoming back rower before he went to he sharks? He was playing mostly as a ball playing lock with Penrith. And look how proctor has gone since he left Melbourne.
We can’t expect much else.
The club / coaches have made a brave possibly wise decision to fill our 30 squad with mostly equal talent full of experience and capable of playing very solid. Signing a mat Moylan or bevan French isn’t going to change that goal.
Consisitancy will be the name of the game this year. Bigger / higher profile players will come in time. In my opinion we probably could have spent a little more on 1 - 25 and a little less on the last 5 but signing a 62 gamer for minimum wage is job well done as far as I’m concerned.
Maybe position 30 might be reserved for one of our development kids to break into first grade if they have a breakout start in 20s / ISP.

I'm happy that this year every player is experienced enough in the NRL instead of having so many rookies every year in the team

Welcome Pita!

Yeah, but, we signed him to an NRL contract. He's definitely not the worst player ever but he is the smallest. 172cm and 79kg. I just don't think that is our weakest position. But, again, he's not the worst player ever so, who knows…

This signing highlights why we are still a long way off the better clubs. When you look at what we have been able to spend 90% of our cap on and what a few other teams have been able to do. It all comes down to what we have to pay to attract players to our club. Sadly we have to pay marquee money for players who are a couple of steps down from that level. So when it comes to depth signings we have to look at players a couple of steps down also.

Not having a go at this lastest signing, just the position our club is in and basically how our hands are tired

A very talented lower grade player from what I have seen and a player that can play 3-4 positions.

The lower grade needs a good utility as well as the higher grades.

A good buy and at I would assume was a very low cost.

Welcome to the Tigers Pita!

This is the first signing I don’t fully understand. Like many others I think our backrow needs a boost. But, I have totally bought into Cleary’s leadership so I’m happy to accept that he knows a lot more about what we need than I do. Go Tigers 2018!!
