We've got next to no elite talent in this age group and absolutely no elite centres with any kind of pace. We need a huge influx of elite talent most especially young fast and talented centres? Bronson Xerri is the player we should be after,.

So where is all the talented juniors from that huge junior area of the Southwest or is this being shown up for what it is a falsehood . The club has to have a long hard look at the direction it is taking as at present playing games and the propagation of junior talent does not seem to be working out to well from that area!

I don't know why this comment is in this thread - why don't you start up a " I hate Campbelltown " thread and put it in there.

We need to have a mature debate about this issue. For better or worse, we've seen Woods, Moses, Brooks, Tatola, Douelhi and Suli emerge from the Balmain juniors. We've had Tedesco, Nofoaluma and Sue from Wests Campbelltown in fairly recent times. In terms of its size, we are not seeing quality or quantity. Is it that the best are being pilfered by other clubs; our talent identification and retention is not up to it? Can someone provide details?

Balmain must be like Qld. Local products like Suli (fairfield - Parramatta Harold Matthews), Tatola (Berala). Is like arguing that anyone that played for the roosters NYC side must be one of their local juniors. The only link between them is that the club signed them & sent them to Holy Cross.

As per my eariler post, what is the south west equivalent of Holy Cross?

The problem is talent identification. The tigers pay no more attention to the south west than other clubs, but I would say that they are actually at a disadvantage given some of the stories that circulate in junior leagues about how people had been treated.

Had the tigers identified & retained talent from the south west. then you could have seen Hayne, Falou, Hoffman, the Paea brothers, De Berlin (St Gregs), Tim Lafai, Paseka (Liverpool)

I think Clearly will stay at the Panthers honestly. I don't mind really. Be good to have him but having Reynolds on big money and Clearly as well will stuff our cap up a bit.

So we have 8 players next year to sign. I believe Lolohea and maybe McQueen will leave next year.

I know Clearly has made depth his key this year, but next year I'd like to get a few more minimum wage players so we have the cap space to go after Clearly and a couple other big guns. A centre and a 2nd rower of good quality.

Surely we have pre paid a few of next years contracts to lessen the financial burden of bringing Nathan on board. I don’t think McQueen will go as this is his gravy train contract into retirement. Tui will seek greener pastures and should get picked up elsewhere, again as a utility but quality replacement if a half goes down.

Reynolds is the tough one. He has to want to leave for SL for this to work out. If he goes to another NRL side, we will be footing a fair bit of the freight.

Yes McQueen won't get better money elsewhere, however, a player that has played a lot of first grade will not like playing reserves for 3 years even though the money is good. He will take a paycut next year to play first grade elsewhere if he doesn't get in this team.

Reynolds 4 years is the issue. Its one year too long. If we sign cleary to play in 2020 we could of had Reynolds play the last year then move him on. Two years though will effect our salary cap a fair bit.

Still, we are in a better place than we have been for a few years.

Matulino, twal, eisenhuth and Packer make IP a strong middle pack. Marsters, mbye,Thompson and nofo are all adequete. Just need 3-5 extra rep players too back them up.

Not sure about Liddle as hooker. I'll give him until end of next year. If he hasn't improved by then wel get someone better.

With Balmain it seems it does quite well identifying young talent. That should be encouraged, not denigrated, Suli and Tatola have been in the system for some time, but if talent identification is an issue in the South West, well Wests really need to look at this issue. Hopefully Cleary has inspired changed,

The real shame is how bad West tigers have been over the last 10 yrs in player identification or player development.Example i know myself there is a local kid in Ingleburn could not get a look in here but had Penirth and Roosters chase him, went to the Roosters. And that is not the isolated case either i am afraid.
