Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

its alright saying we should off load players but i am wondering where the hell new ones are coming from, as many have changed clubs and we dont seem to be after any of them, with money in the bank what the hell is IVAN hold out for, i just wish the club would come out and say yes we have players that we hope to sign, i dont want names or even positions just a acknowledgement that we have it under control.

I wonder how much room in the cap we really will have for next season. So at the moment we are losing MWZ, Grant and Kev. Farah and Benj retire. Possibly Sue and Godinet are not re-signed and Tui will be transferred. Are we paying for Sironen still next year?
Where does that leave us when we add whatever space we currently have, or have engineered, this season?
I posted previously we will have plenty of spots available to improve our roster with quality players, but as pointed out by others, we won't necessarily have much cap room to pay for many quality players (even if we can find them).

We don't need any new players that are old, young, experienced, inexperienced, but they have already said that recruitment is ongoing and reviewed daily… on numerous Q & A's with Abbott and Costello...recruitment manager Kelly Egan on MMM and fox podcasts...and a recent sojourn to the North of England..

Always on the lookout they say..

We are clearing the decks at the moment. Who for will be interesting. Off the books next year looks like a large amount.

Siro 450k, Tui 350k, MWX $100k, Kev 300k, Grant 350k, Suli 400k, Milne 200k, Mcilwrick 150k totals 2.3m.

We have signed or increased the following for next year: Mbye 500k (subsidised by Dogs), Corey Thompson say 200k increase, Garner say 150k increase, Marsters say 250k increase: Total 1.1m.

Reports were we had and front loaded 1m in salary cap for this year.

If Tui leaves and Marshall and Farah don’t get signed we have 7 spots and 2.2m available next year. That’s a heap of room for new players.

Does anyone see it any differently or knows who we are targeting?

If you have a dud there is always a chance that you may end up with another dud.
But at least there is a chance that you may pick up a gem.
There is lots out there ….. just have to be a smart at recruiting and lucky.
Of course if you’re referring to a top liner ..... then that’s a different story.
I personally like to see a no name player given a chance and making the grade. Twal is one and there will be others.

we should have kept lolohea at 5/8 he really played well last year, he is big and fast so good close to the line. could have saved $750,000 on signing a injured grub.

Stats in todays paper show Brian Kelly as the worst defensive centre in the NRL, Gagai 2nd Hiku 3rd.
So he would probably fit right in here, no tigers in top 6 missed tackles for centres though

So you wouldn't take Gagai either then?

Things in motion, lots of talk, not necessarily with players off contract this year. Plenty of movement from all clubs still to come. Nothing set in stone yet, but those closest to joining are Segeyaro & Adam Milner (super league)

Good to see we are targeting some of the areas where we have been poor

Finally at least some possible signing news. Thanks Pom - even if this comes to nothing

With all this movement out let’s hope we’ll hear some signings soon.
