Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

On the question of who we should buy….Realistically, I would make a play for Tupau, Oates, and Korisau (in preference to Segeyaro). Assuming talk of Kelly is true, we need two other fast outside backs (would have loved Isaako but no hope - so not really sure on these two).
Also, I would try for another mobile, tough young forward eg Pengai Jnr type. These guys would be a big upgrade on departures...Grant, MWZ, Kev, Benj (retiring), Robbie (retiring), Tui, Sue and Godinet. This is probably the best we could do for 2019.

If we need to make further room, McQueen and Rochow need to go if at all possible (although not sure how), giving us extra cap space for some other big, young, hungry types possibly looking at quality ISP players from other clubs .

depending on who we sign i wouldn't be too surprised if Benji and Robbie go around one more year.

I really hope they don't, this year will be enough

Me two, as much as i am a fan of both of them i would rather see young and fresh players out there. Our problem is they make up our 30 for this year, based on reports we have 5 or 6 spots to fill (Grant, MWZ, Kev, Tui, Sue, Godinet) already and those 2 aren't included in that count. I don't see 5 or 6 quality players available to replace 6 let alone 8.

So its probably going to be 1 or 2 keepers and bunch of short term contracts. Unless we luck out and grab a whole bunch of good ones, but we know thats a slim chance that any club gets all the players they target. but i dont think 2019 offer many quality players and again based on reports 2020 is when some real good ones become available.

I would keep Tui over benji as a back up 5/8 but i think Tui wants FG and IC doesn't appear to want Tui in FG. Definitely prefer Robbie over Godinet.

I hope Ivan has a few Aces up his sleeve and stashed a few chips along the way
He has been wearing his poker face for some time now and he is giving nothing away at the table

Let's hope he pulls a Royal Flush soon

I think we should have a melbourne storm approach to signing players. Would storm ever consider morris brothers? NO. Would storm consider oates or marty? YES. I just always tend to think no matter the circumstance would clubs like storm and brisbane be interested in the player.

Oh, please. Melby signed Nate Myles, Kasiano, Robbie Rochow, Ryan Morgan and Matt White. Every club has their share of duds.

Suggestions on Talkin Sport that Bellamy wants to give Oates a go at back row.

Why why why are we not thinking the same?

I think Storm have a much better chance to cover him learning the position much better than we can, personally I think we need an established hard nosed second rower as opposed to someone learning on the job.

Realistically where would you prefer to go steve

I would go to Melb for a good contract and a nice boat then head to the Tigers for my retirement fund after I was cooked.

With the Roosters having Crichton and Cordner signed up for next year (with both likely to play long minutes when fit) it looks like Ryan Matterson will be relegated to a limited minute utility role. He'd be a great solution to our weak right edge.
