Wouldn't mind a player in Merrin who averages 115 meters per game and has ran over 100 meters in 14 of the games he has played this year. The meters gain in the other games were 54, 94, 93, 94, 67 and 83.

Merrin’s minutes are down ( 50 mins this year ) compared to 2 years ago when he was playing 80 .
Turns 29 in October so still has some good years ahead of him

Griffin has been playing funny buggers with his minutes for awhile now.

No need for him to be playing 80 minutes with the forwards rotation they now have.

We won’t save any coin on the Latu-McQueen trade. Both are on 400k odd. Latu replaces Sue off the bench but a bigger more skilful option. Gold Coast were disappointed with his fitness levels and have James, Boyd, Arrow, Wallace, Boyle. It’s a good prop rotation.

McQueen’s replacement is already there in Garnerwho is already an upgrade so we probably save 300k with the moves.

True, good point.

They seem to prefer Hipgrave to Boyle, but both might get a run if they shift James to 2nd row again (like they were planning at the start of this season).

8\. Wallace

10\. Boyd
11\. Proctor
12\. James
13\. Arrow

14\. Hipgrave
15\. Boyle

…it's a bloody good set of forwards, plus there has been talk that they're after Alex Glenn.

From Twitter: @ctobstruction

Yesterday Keegan Hipgrave missed 9 tackles and conceded another penalty. He is by my metric the worst defender compared to positional average in the #NRL . Human bias can affect opinion - some believe him to be a good defender based on aggression, aggression does not equal quality

Claims Hipgrave to be the worst edge defender in the NRL

Everyone seems to want to sign Hipgrave because he's angry. To me he's a liability.

I'd rather we sign effective good players.

I agree, he is a bad defender who gives away penalties

he is close to the worst player in the game

I would take him over Rochow, and although not a backrower he is better than Godinet as well

He brings raw aggression but when it is not controlled it is a liability. He is only young so with the right guidance he may become a very good player.

But in its current state he has more of a chance to cost you a game rather than win a game.

But even when he isn’t dropping the ball, missing tackles and giving away penalties what does he do that’s good? Honestly I’ve never seen him have a good game. People love him cause he’s an old school type and that’s great, but you need to actually be able to play footy aswell.

I think ive said it before but ill say it again. We desperately need a class centre.

Jarryd hayne is the best centre on the market. He may have other issues but at around 400k he would be dynamite outside of Brooks and Cleary.
