I don’t think that rumour is true. The tigers will go with an experienced coach to replace Cleary.

I heard Warren Ryan has been sounded out

I've heard they are digging up Dally Messenger to play in the centres.

I’m not one to post rumours, or even post at all, but I’ve been told a week after the Panthers have been eliminated from the finals, Cleary will be named as their coach.

Hodgson will be named as our replacement with Skandalis, and potenially Payten as assistants. There will be up to 2 Penrith players joining the Tigers as “compensation”. However it’s likely to only be 1.

I asked what the players thought, and was told both Benji and Robbie are fine with this as they have a good relationship with Brett. They didn’t have any info on the wider playing group.

I am sure you are only passing this info on as you've been told and are doing so in good faith, but I don't buy what your source was selling. If the club allow Cleary to move on, they will not do so without a good replacement in the bag, especially with the likes of Madge and Toovey floating around.

Who's your source?? Bringing Hodgo in as replacement sounds pretty weak and at this stage of their careers, who gives a tossed salad whether Benji and Farah approve of the new coach. I don't see why stocking the coaching roles with ex-Tigers is a good move when none of those three coaches have achieved much.

Who's the compensation? Why only 1? Reads like well-written BS.

My source is a colleague who is a good buddy with both some Wests and Balmain _Old Boys_. They catch-up every year around this time for a session. Both groups seemed to know that Cleary was leaving, however the Wests group knew a lot more about the replacement being Hodgson. Personally, I don't think it's a good idea either.

Why Hodgson? Because we have no money for a big name like Maguire and co. The club don't care about the upcoming Salary Cap for Coaching staff, because we're no chance of spending that amount. Apparently Ivan is not on big money so it won't be the case of just throwing his salary at someone else. Even with all of the recent coaching drama, no(coach's) manager has contacted us expressing interest for their client. We're not like the Panthers/Broncos in that regard.

Why only 1 player? Because despite Marina and Pascoe talking tough in the media, there's not much they can do if Ivan chooses to leave. Restriction of workplace laws aren't overly enforceable here (compared to places like the US). And we don't actually have the money to go into some expensive court case. We obviously want more than 1 player, but it's unlikely we'll get it. I asked who the player is, and they didn't know.

Yep, and the same Benji Marshall as well. But Cleary leaving doesn't affect their reputation. It seems like they don't have any info on the younger members of the playing group.

If and only if this would ever eventuate and the club did move to bring in a rookie coach like Hodgson they might as well shut up shop and dissolve the club .. this would be the biggest backward step the club would make pretty much in its history ..the membership base would dissolve … I couldn’t care less if Cleary stays or goes but if the latter occurs a top line coach has to be employed or the club will collapse imo.

Don't believe it for a second.

For Ivan to turn traitor would be bad for his rep. But for Pascoe and Go to roll over also, that quickly, would be ten steps backwards after they've taken three forward this past year. Their tenures would be over, and WT would be an absolute rubbish heap for years to come.

Nothing would really surprise when your talking NRL and alway expect the unexpected, but from where I sit, I see Cleary staying for the duration of his contract and if by some off chance he did up and leave, I cant see the club going for a rookie coach considering what has happened in the past….but we will all know soon as the season draws to a end
