From my memory (it isn't that crash hot these days) he only made 200 metres in one game - he averaged 150 per game.

Some games he had feet like hands - short and not great under the high ball and has a tendency for brain snaps.

I wouldn't be arguing whether he or Momo gets the centre spot - I'd be shopping him.

Never know your luck in a big city - we might find a club silly enough.

We will see. Listening to you two talk Momo up I’m expecting big things next year!

If you’re getting rid of Fonua, who comes if either Momo or Marsters get injured?

Matterson could cover the centres easy.

It’s not his preferred position, and the last thing you want is to be chopping and changing him every week. He needs to nail down one spot. Preferably on the right edge.

Just an option to cover an injury.

He could but I doubt they want to use him that way. The squad needs another centre/winger signing and it probably needs to lose a 2nd rower or two. Matterson, Lawrence, Taylor, Garner, Chee-Kam, Aloiai, McQueen, Rochow, McIntyre…that's too many.

I totally agree.
But with what we have that’s the option I’d take.

So from what I've read…

Cleary struck a deal with the Panthers for 2021 and onwards.
The board have found out about this and are subsequently looking to release Cleary and find a new coach ASAP.

IMO it's good management by the board, they are seeing the same long-term and short-term consequences to be had by keeping Cleary on board in regards to recruitment, etc (that many on here have mentioned). On to a new Tigers (& Clearyless) era!!!!

If it’s true, they would have known weeks ago and would already be well into searching for a replacement. They don’t find out these things when we do.

Well, from the article above:
"It is unknown whether Cleary has formally told Tigers management of his decision to quit the club after the 2020 season."

It obviously doesn't confirm 100% that the board did not know, but the fact the news of Cleary joining the Panthers for the 2021 season and the Wests Tigers attempting to release him and sign Wayne Bennett for 2019 has broken one after the other is a decent indication.

It's just my take on the whole situation. I wouldn't be surprised if Cleary kept the club in the dark about his decision to sign with the Panthers in 2021.

Heard that he is gone from 2019 and Panthers are paying his salary out to us.

Lets hope so as I have lost ALL for him and want a coach that is actually committed to the club.. I believe Wayne B would be an excellent choice as he has something to prove and also can attract the quality players we need. I also thing he would hang around for a few years until we grown and get a quality replacement for him.. Fingers crossed as I have had enough of all this rubbish.

So the bull crap about Cleary being on holidays the other day was just another cover story, as he is heading on holidays on sunday, I knew when Cleary gave his 30 second pre prepared script he was gone, or at least his heart was gone and he was soon following.
Yet people were prepared to cop that statement, and think having him stay for 2 more years was best for us :crazy

At worst, I’m sure they would have anticipated this outcome weeks ago and prepared themselves. I doubt they would be reading this article tonight thinking “gee, we better start looking for a replacement”. They deserve more credit than that. If we release him, I wouldn’t be surprised if we simultaneously announce his successor.

Been crickets ever since we signed Matterson. One good player ain't gonna help us too much.

One of the biggest problems we had as a club was the amount of leaks we had. Now that we have fixed that people are upset that they don't know what is happening inside the club. We shouldn't know!

I'm not talking about leaks, I'm talking about us being active in the player market and signing some damn good players! Matterson isn't our saviour. There is no way the speculation surrounding our coach is not affecting recruitment.

How do you know we aren't active in the player market?

I hope this is a rhetorical question…

If Ivan reckons media pressure has been strong this year… he better hope he wins next year. He’s a liability where ever he is next year

Does this mean we have to pay out another coach?

I wouldn't think WT would let him go and have to pay his as well.
More likely that Panthers are compensating us.
If that's the case Gus is paying Griffin, Ciraldo, and Cleary twice.

If Tigers are to simply accept Penrith paying out Ivan’s contract, they’re just paying us now what we would eventually pay. I don’t see that as compensation as it’s the same dollar figure. If they want him now, they need to sweeten the deal either financially or with some decent players.

Tigers need to make Penrith sweat. Could we legally sign Bennett and keep Cleary? Tell Penrith they can have him in 2 years and Cleary can run the waters.

It might hurt our bank, but it’d be worth it to watch Gus and Cleary squirm thinking they outplayed us.
