We should of signed English international Oliver Gildart when we could of gotten him cheap at the start of the season when there was rumours we were signing him before he was an international. Now he's probably the best English centre and one of the best ESL centres. Now he'd be worth a lot more.

I'd take Wighton as a centre, but not at $750 k and of course pending he's not facing jail time. Russell could sort him out mentor him on the right path.

On Wighton - he obviously has some baggage, but if he gets through the sentencing OK then I'm inclined to think that Madge will be the right guy to get him focused on his footy and not playing up off the field. He has certainly got some attacking ability and strong front on defence. Centre looks like his best spot to me as well, and certainly we could do with another option in the outside backs. I wouldn't be paying the sort of money that's being suggested though at over $700K.

Good, they deserve to get stung. They hand out long-term, big money contracts like candy with the expectation they can just move contracted players on whenever it’s convenient to them. They got out of jail with Bryce Cartwright, Matt Moylan and Leilani Latu so I hope Merrin sticks it out there with his $750K hole in their cap…
