Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

all a club needs is 1 seriously good young player and then the get street cred.

J Thurstan. Cowboys

K Pongia - Newcastle

Just need one

Aren't they the young blokes we just signed that have played rep? Surely they must have some ability. They just need a chance unless there are others out there that have slipped through the scrutiny of other clubs?

Marsters in centre and momirovski on wing for now?

He might not look imposing but Thompson does a good job on the wing. Knows how to finish well, can break a tackle and gives his all. I wouldn’t be displacing him to play Momirovski out of position.

One of the first players picked. Also handy to have slot in at FB.

1\. Moses Mbye
2\. David Nofoaluma
3\. Esan Masters
4\. Mahe Fonua/Momirovski
5\. Corey Thompson

If anyone seriously thinks that Thompson isn't a walk up starter in that backline they weren't watching him last season. He is a great player. Our problems are in the centres. Wighton would be good for us but from reading those articles I wonder if we'd sign him.

I think Nofo is the one who will be battling it out.

Yeah, I'll be spewing if we're are interested in an origin player.

I know right. We struggle to attract anyone and yet some people are still saying they wouldn't want Cook. It's pretty unbelievable.

Mate ….. missing the point ...... would love an origin player but not and willing to pay what it takes ..... but with what we have ..... not a hooker ...... and particularly not Cook. He’s a one trick pony ..... now if you are talking about a Smith type player .... then you’re talking.
Just my opinion.

Farah will retire and Liddle hasn't shown enough to persist with him. Cook is one of the best hookers in the game. Enough waiting. Let's get the best players we can right now.

I like McInnes from saints, he’s a good 9 not sure if his situation but he’d be the best value for money.

There are exactly two ways to win in the NRL:
- Have money to spend outside the cap.
- Get value out of your cap money.

Option one isn't available to the Tigers, so it has to be option two. Giving up on a promising (and cheap!) young player because he's been injured and replacing him with an admittedly good player on absolute top coin is exactly how you don't do option two. Jacob Liddle turned 22 a fortnight ago for god's sake, and 2018 was basically a write off for him because of injury. It would be borderline moronic to cut bait on him now.

Nofo would be, except Mahe is better at Center and Mom is a center type as well. We could go full defensive but Nofo has picked up that side of the game. This isn't a problem, let Mom earn his stripes and respect our jersey.

Thompson is probably our best Utility and we only have two wingers. I suspect Marshall will be on the bench, in fact I suspect that is where he would be the best, mix it up when other teams are getting tired.

^ comment somewhere above. Yes Lawrence was pretty good at Center, before the hip bust. Sheens, for all his faults (and there were many)… Man he could come up with some great plays.

^ re Cook. If he is at 500k we should take him, but he won't be. His fast play out of DH doesn't work well with our forward pack. Though, McGuire if you are listening we are happy for you to bring a few Burgess's (Burgii) over to our team. Happy to pay above minimum wage for them, would even go 200K

He played his best football under Potter and i think Potter is still up at the knights(assistant). That could have been the reason he decided to go there

rabbitohs and bennet will just frontload the hell out of it in 2019\. cook aint leaving. i reckon he'll sign a 5 year deal for $5m next year

Potter let go by knights. He's joined the eels coaching staff for 2019.

A million per season - no thanks, all he has is speed - A cam Smith he isn't and he is 28.

We need a back and a FR forward not another hooker.

Sooner or later our weakness in the hooking position will be realised.

So buy Koroisau and spend all the leftover cash on some props he can run off the back of.

Hopefully it's no too late to do this for 2019.

Cool, and if he's still injured at 24 do we say "he just turned 24 a fortnight ago for god's sake"? Do we put all our eggs in one basket with a hooker that appears to be injured more than he's not? A team's spine needs to stay healthy for much of the year to remain competitive, and considering our number 6 AND our "future" number 9 are the very definition of injury prone, it's hard to see that happening. A couple of years ago I was a big fan of Liddle, I thought he had a massive future, but even last year when he came back from injury we looked worse when Farah came off and he went on.

Ivan was allegedly looking at Segeyaro for this season and re-signed Farah. Now Maguire is allegedly looking at Cook. If Liddle is our future then it's strange our past coach and now our new coach are looking at alternative hooking options. Unless all those rumours were incorrect of course..

Koroisau signed a contract extension with manly a few weeks ago.

I think, (am happy for this to be noted and brought up at the end of the season) that this year was Cooks breakout year and best year in the NRL.

He has limited talent apart from speed and coaches will have worked him out totally for 2019\. He won't be half as good next year especially if Siebold leaves.

Not a million dollar player imo and - Yes it was Madge that preferred RF.

Knights are putting together a very impressive pack of forwards. Klemmer will also be joining them. They will be a force next season.

Oh, but we’ve signed Matterson! 🤗
