Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I know a lot of people won't agree with me, but what about Segeyaro? Off contract, and in my opinion a classy dummy half. Maybe Liddle isn't actually going to be the real deal, I know a lot of people are going to get angry at me for this but he's 22 and he's become nowhere near the player we thought he'd be. Maybe we should look at getting a quality dummy half before someone else picks him up or Sharks resign him because Farah most likely won't be playing after 2019\. Segeyaro can play off the bench and come on late in the first half and second half to bring some more energy and spark a bit of electricity into our game like he usually does. And after Farah retires I believe he can play 80 minutes.

Segeyaro has never shown he can lead a team around the park. Hasnt shown he control tempo of a game or do whats best for his team for a full 80 minutes.

Great bench player though.

Agree with Pats, Good bench player but we need an 80 minute footballer in the 9 jersey to free up the bench.

Walker would be handy and I've love to get rid of McQueen and free up 400k per season to try and lure Hess.

No club will take McQueen off our hands for $400k…

Most clubs wouldn’t have taken him when we were signing him, let alone taking him now when he’s even worse.
One of our dumbest signings!

I would have liked him here with Liddle. Too late now though , Cleary made sure of that.

McQueen is not a bum! Bennett had him lined up to play for England the year he suffered his neck injury. I have no idea what has happened in the time he has been with us, whether neck injury, coach relationship or because of the way JT was treated. I do know and I think most people with any football knowledge would agree, this guy is/was an intelligent footballer. I look forward to Chris getting his head right next year and finding his previous form and helping us get into the finals. Go Weststigers!

The opportunity to sign Segeyaro went when we re-signed Farah.

Yep you are right - I don't agree with you.

Liddle and I quote from above "he's become nowhere near the player we thought he'd be"

At 22, with limited opportunities in the NRL, because of shoulder injury and no pre-season last year… what did you expect from him????

Farah / Liddle is the answer. Segeyaro or Levi are definitely not the answer imo.

Make or break for him this year though. The guy has to stay on the field and perform

Liddle was terrible last year.

Not nearly as ridiculous as claiming Lawrence has always been an average player, even pre-hip injury.

Far more ridiculous!!!
If there was a show called Ridiculousness then this post would be on it.

PS. I acknowledged that pre injury he wasn’t average. Fair go GNR

And immediately post hip injury he was in career best form, culminating with playing for Australia.

IMHO, he was pretty terrible at that time. But Australia were short some good centres and Sheens was coach.

Hodges and Inglis ??

Bit handy

must have fluked the dally m hooker of the year award in 2014

I have another signing suggestion, what about Tommy Makinson? Golden boot winner, good finisher, good defender, and has more pace than Nofoaluma and Thompson.

Inglis was selected and Hodges was injured at the time.

Yes, why not? Apparently, he wants to test himself in the NRL and we have a tradition of successful Englishmen.

I agree with others that this thread is particularly frustrating and, at times, tedious while at the same time strangely adictive….
To be honest, I would much rather a separate thread for each rumoured player, not this 1100 page marathon. Why do we have one gigantic thread and does anyone agree with me?

Doesn’t really matter what we think if the club isn’t interested, and the chances are good that they aren’t. Might as well suggest Taumalolo or Sam Burgess.

The contract section would be nothing but name after name of pointless threads if you devoted a thread to each player. Dozens and dozens of threads that would clog up stuff that is actually relevant. It’s better that it’s all in one thread.

If Walker does leave Manly they have Albert Hopoate. Who is now in Manly's top 30\. He's 18 in 2019\. May play wing or centre at some point in the season. He has size and speed.
