Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

@WeHaveCheeKam spot on mate, and tbh, never really looked at it like that... I think we’re all starting to be convinced Madge may be the man.

@Cultured_Bogan ...CB that the tricky part, but there must be a system of putting all players into half a dozen baskets and putting a point value on the baskets. Than throw in some discounts for juniors and long serving players. I would even put a penalty loading on clubs who take juniors from other clubs, but that will never happen

I don't necessarily agree with you @tigerap: For instance, do you prefer and respect the posts from some of Our Forum members more so than others?
All of us look at things differently, but not all of us think $$$ or the Rorters/Donkeys etc are their major priority. Some will want to play under a certain coach [and Our Madge is a bloody good and positive start], some might have family in the area, some might even have leadership qualities and ambitions and will be happy to come to a club such as Our Wests Tigers while helping to build Our Club.
Once that 100% right fit person is signed, then others will be attracted.
We gotta stop :hand: this 'no one will ever want to come to Our Club' talk.
In my very humble opinion this sorta talk just depresses Our Fans.
I've said it before and I'm saying it again " I believe We are on the verge of becoming the Powerhouse of the West" :v: and Our first move towards that was signing Madge Maguire as Our coach, who came to Us BY CHOICE because he had the desire and commitment to make Our Team Great once again
And i repeat "he came to US by CHOICE", as will good Team players. :relaxed:

@MAGPIES1963 My comments were certainly not intended to depress our fans. You appear to be a passionate person about our club, like I am, and i commend you and all our passionate fans, many who post on here, for their passion shown. Our club is trying its guts out to be a powerhouse, but will we ever get there and become the Roosters of the West?...sadly unless the NRL makes the game a level playing field, I think not. We are considered by the NRL hierarchy a minnow club, they treat us that way, the NRL probably wouldn't blink an eye lid if our club folded, but I can assure you if the Roosters, Broncos, Panthers or Storm were on the brink of folding they would come to their aid before it got to that point...we are simply not competing on a level playing field, its obvious to me and I find that wrong and frustrating...The scope of this inequality is even played out on the field with the referees for gods sake....

Rant over...its not directed to you @MAGPIES1963 so I hope you don't take it this way....

I'm going to Canberra tomorrow with my son and hopefullt we come away with a win...All i'm hoping for is for the refs to for once give us the "rub of the green"... 🙂

Do you for one moment think Bazza sits in his executive chair in his executive office all day and does nothing more than twiddle his thumbs @happy_tiger?
I certainly don't think that.
For the sorta bloke that he is ie accustomed to and probably likes being in front of the camera and spruiking, I reckon he would be doing that if he had something to tell being good or bad.
Also I reckon the old saying 'no news is GOOD news' is still viable and believable today.
I reckon there would be heaps of stuff going on in the background to get Our Club UP and going again, but as you would know there ain't no use in saying anything until the 'obese' lady has sung.
Please give Offarrell and Pascoe a 'fair' chance at getting stuff right.
Panicking and then rushing into the unknown as Cleary did can't happen again and I'm sure won't happen again.
So please stay positive, look forward to much better things to come, but most importantly all you un_happy_tigers...keep the sunny side 😛oint_up: and therefore look forward to a better tomorrow :relaxed: :relaxed: :relaxed:

@tigerap Unfortunately when fans speak up about this it is classed as whinging and your club needs to fix there own backyard.. JOKE .. I been saying this for a long time now and the TPA need to go or be capped and the NRL should be the ones paying the players. We are the clubs that develops the players and when they become stars the big clubs pop up and show them how good it is winning premierships and getting brown paper bags, Free rent, free memberships to top sports clubs like Golf etc.. even after you stop playing they are looked after.. And to top it off when we offer a legend of the club an after playing career job we get punished and suffer on our salary cap - A punishment higher than clubs that actually cheat on the cap and try and hide it from the NRL..... E.g. Eels ..
Sorry Rant over but when your club has one of the best crowds, memberships numbers in Sydney but have not made the finals sense 2010 it is hard to swallow..

The problem is simple ....the people is high places come and go when they please

The only time they end up leaving is when someone else in the club upends their dinghy

Make them sign contracts based on paying back whatever money they have STOLEN if the club doesn't make the Top 8 in a 3 year period ....

I'm so sick of hearing people at this club say how much they love the club .......and then gouge it until it is empty

**Tell me what Bazza has done so far .....what he has changed ......all I see he stood front and centre when Benji got his 300 th Haka and present ....after HIS players from HIS club showed up with lettuce leaf performance**

From an outsiders point of view, thats about all i could credit him with so far.

He got us $6 Million from Federal Liberals guys.

https://www.weststigers.com.au/news/2019/05/07/wests-tigers-secure-further-funding-commitment-for-centre-of-excellence/

You guys also realise that Board members aren't full-time staff right? They just set the direction.

It's actually a credit to Marina Go that he hasn't had to come in and make any drastic decisions.

David Fifita.......

The bronco's have a stack of good forwards, too many, even after loosing Su'a.

Still has another 3.5 years on his contract no chance. The Tigers are in talks with another 3 Broncos players all under 25 & yet to play first grade this year.

G'day @supercoach: re your "till one of the elite teams crash and burn"..." but that is unlikely to happen".
Sporting teams like life very often goes in cycles. For instance, take a look at the Bulldogs...since Bullfrog retired things haven't been the same since.
Broncos...since Wayne Bennett left.
St George... glory days are long gone
The Canberra Raiders...after Meninga and co retired.
Manchester United and Arsenal... were at the top in the EPL and won every damn thing going, now where are they.
Glasgow Rangers in the Scottish Premier League...they have all but disappeared.
The list goes on and on and...
As so often happens when a very strong leader steps down, a crash and burn soon follows. My case in point is Nick Politis and the Rorters.
ANY team can crash and burn because it's SO DAMN HARD to get EVERYTHING right and in order from the front office right thru to the players.
Our Wests Tigers Will Rise Again 😛oint_up: :v: and it's gonna be so damn exciting :relaxed: :relaxed: :relaxed:

@MAGPIES1963 .....Yes even the good teams have bad years but they are never down for long. Look at the make up of the top eight over the past 10 years dominated by the same teams most years.
My point is..it is very very hard to build up, not impossible, but you need a lot of luck with your recruitment.

G'day again @supercoach: And your point "you need a lot of luck with your recruitment" IS a very good one, as the very bad luck We have had in the recent past with losing some of Our very best players due to devastating and permanent injuries, really set us back on those occasions.
The coach of the day formulates plans and plays around those V.I.Players, then due to a tackle gone wrong, or a broken ankle or other similar injuries...whamo, and there is a possibility the whole team can no longer function as a whole effective unit.
Have a great day and enjoy the footy on Saturday evening and Sunday just as you are sitting down to a relaxing roast dinner :relaxed:

Thanks a lot @TieDye: hope you enjoy the footy as well.
All we gotta do is go on the field with the right attitude and have the ball bounce Our way for a change and yuh never know, You, me, every Wests Tigers Fan could very well be happy with an unexpected WIN :relaxed:

@iofthetigers are we looking at these players for development like Simpkin, or for the top squad in 2020?

I don’t know but unlike Simpkins all 3 are Intrust cup players & are still under contract at the Broncos

@tiger05premier maybe one, two, doubt any others are likely... pinching a couple of their stars of ISC tho could be a MASTERSTROKE

G'day @tigerap: I'm sure your comments weren't intended to depress Our Wests Tigers Fans tigerap and I certainly didn't take your comments as being directed at me for 1 second.
It's certainly been plain to me you are also a passionate Wests Tigers Supporter as are a few other Forumers like Cochise, TieDye, Momo_Amp_medo, just to name a few.
I really hope you and your son have an enjoyable and safe trip 'to' Canberra, and I also really really hope your trip 'from' is much more enjoyable, and safe, after a Wests Tigers win.
Many years ago during winter, I took my Mum down to Canberra to visit Her older brother and I tell yuh I have never felt cold such as I did that time.
The next time I went to Canberra was to watch our Wests Tigers play, but this time my nuts froze off :white_frowning_face: even though I had 7 pairs of undies on :relaxed:

We should definitely table him an offer in case he wants to return to the NRL. I doubt he will be back though. He has a very good chance to make their roster.

I doubt he will make the 53 but he has a guaranteed spot on their practice squad that doesn't count towards their practice squad numbers so if he is taking this seriously he will not be back until at least August next year!

Thats the reality of it. he would be insane to give up on the chance he has. I still think he is half a chance to make the 53. He is much more suited than Hayne.

The Jets however can stash him on the PS if they so choose.

That said give him an option in case he ever comes back.
