Seems less and less likely a signing will be done this week

We don't need to have our top 29 sorted until just before round 1 in 2020. Announcements could be made today, tomorrow, next week, next month or next year.

Patience is required.

I feel the way it will be played out is we will sign 5 players for 21. These players can be signed and announced without any measure from their current club.
From then on it will be the hope that some of them Get releases for 2020 and come early.
We need 29 by the start of the year and we will have Chris and Benji retiring at the end of 2020 which makes room for two players in 2021 (roster space not cap) which means if none of the five big signings get released we can add the likes of Hiroti and Billy. We’ll keep a spot till mid season and like this year some of the 5 development players might be signed to first grade contracts in June in order to give us a bigger cash flow for retention / recruitment for the 2021 season.

I wonder if the Rotorua boy will be signed to a development contract as we have one spot left?

I suggest everyone take a breath and enjoy the weekend. We have almost two million to spend with a player carousel pretty likely to happen in the next month. Which, if there is, we’ll be in that up to our eyeballs. Don’t have a meltdown if nothing is announced in the next week, the club will make their move in time. Have some patience.

I was hoping for a new speedy solidly built winger winger such as Hiroti but that statement from Madge counts that out

I agree probably going to sign a front and centre. I'd like a genuine fullback but I feel like it's unlikely.

Wouldn't rule it out just yet. Guessing that centre and prop are top priority going by those words. Still need 4 spots filled by round one, so a winger like Hiroti could still be added.

We should not forget Musgrove as a front rower should both parties wish to proceed now court action over and he is on good behaviour restrictions. Will be reasonably priced and have a point to prove. I'd rather him than JWH, but I suppose we'd still need NRL approval of any contract offer - and I don't take anything requiring Greenberg ok as foregone conclusion.

That Would free up $$$ for speedy backs and useful forward with a bit of aggression.

If Hiroti comes cheap we may still get him.

We need fast outside backs. What you are suggesting does not solve this need.

Lomax has pace doesn't he? But I agree with you. What we could really do with is a couple of tall, fast wingers.

Lomax is a very good young player. POM suggested he may not be obtained until the following year.
