Barry O Farrell stated we got nothing in return. If Brown is signed it would be unrelated to the Matterson transaction. If it was Related it would already have been announced at the same time as it’s in the clubs interest to placate fans and sponsors losing a borderline origin player for nothing.
Yeah you’re right, I think it’s dreadful that we get nothing out of this Matterson farce. We just laid down and let him walk. The whole thing stinks!
We might end with Mitchell. But yeah, nothing...
We might, but no reason why we couldn’t get Mitchell as well as a forward swap for Matterson. Our pack has been severely weakened.
Whose to say we won't. How about we wait and see what happens before we go off the deep end, hanging the club for being incompetent. The roster has spots to be filled, so players are going to come from somewhere.
As TYGA posted, if there was a player swap it would’ve been announced at the same time as Matterson to Parra. So no swap, but hopefully we can still get a decent forward or two for next season from our own cap space.
Why is it so important that it has to be a player swap? It’s more important Matterson’s money is used to sign a marquee player that could come from anywhere in the competition. Getting one back on Parra should be secondary.
That is certainly the way WT will spin it I'm sure. Still their posturing and stance prior to the event was somewhat different, but true, they didnt say the swap / benefit HAD to come from the team accepting Matterson.
No spin ..... Madge would oversite all signings and he returns this week. No way would he endorse signings without speaking first hand with player and managers. So he returned from international duties early this week. So I think no announcements now until the end of the month if “cooling off” signing period Is taken into account.
All speculation on my part of course but must say I am impressed that no leaks from club so far have reached the media or this forum. Yes .... at last a tight ship.
Not fizzed to wait until it’s done or who we sign as I trust Madge to sign who he and his recruitment people think will best serve us short term until real Cap money becomes available next year. In the end he lives or dies on results the squad he assembles delivers on the park.
