Hope that’s not our only name signing. At this stage of their careers, Matterson is better than Leilua.

Yeah but Matto is a Karmichael.

I wish we would go hard for Brandon smith, and someone like campbell graham from souths, those sorts of players change teams, young energetic, no egos, just good players and work hard...

one can wish

wouldnt mind brandon smith.......

but have a look a liddle....... he is taking Massive strides in his recovery, having his knee brace already taken off

meaning he will be avaliable for early rounds of 2020.......

if liddle can stay fit he will be a very valuable asset for us, his speed from Dummy Half if very effective

Let this settle in...
We have lost Marsters , Matterson, Matulino, Fonua, Farah & Rochow.. (5 starters)

We have gained the following with first grade experience - Walters (1 or 2 games) and ............ Nothing

Sorry but that is not good enough for a club with the money we have available.. I understand LL from Dragons might be coming but until it announced it is not happening..

If they think we will be better with these guys gone and the younger ones added they are kidding themselves..

Something does not seem right here as we are nearly Dec and other teams are playing there cards and all we seem to be doing to sitting in the corner with our fingers crossed hoping that LM comes to us..

Hang on there Jonesy -

We lost Marsters - Did basically nothing all season.
We lost Matterson - played well until SOO (not bad after but didn't want to be here.
We lost Matulino - played only first half of the season and retired.
We lost Fonua - injured and CC player fr the vast majority of 2019.
We lost Farah - apart from his first 6 games he just became ordinary.
We lost Rochow - for 2019 a CC player.

I think apart on 2019 form and appearances it would not be hard to replace your "5 starters" apart from Matterson.

Of course we want really good players to take their place but if they are not there - fill the gaps for a year and save the places for 2021.

Still think we have plenty of time and opportunity to get good replacement for 2020 myself.

so iam wondering , wheres the prop and the centre that madge said he needed to replace. seems that most that were on the market have been taken , so who do people think we are looking at. or will this be the same as before , we will only sign rookies and Canterbury cup type players . before we all hope we could sign players but we knew we had no money , but now we have a war chest and the same crap just keeps going round and round.

@Russell So who replaces Marsters, who replaces Matterson and who replaces Farah?

Luciano for Matterson? we didn't have Jrey for most of 2019 so likely Jrey/Marshall 9 combo, Talau -Momo & Mbye battling for centres. Definitely need a prop, maybe Musgrove & FB upgrade LM or Lomax

@hodgo With respect, .........Patience, how many years have we all sat here waiting, our new motto should be "NEXT YEAR" because nothing has happened. Except changing the coaches seat.

Sorry, but what path are you looking at, we have lost some decent players and from what I have read, we have not really replaced them. TBH, the clubs success is an empty trophy case, kids with limited talent are not our answer, IMO Easts & Storm buy there players, not develop them, it takes to long and is hit and miss.

I do agree that the management system seems to be stable now, but we had $1.8m to go to the market, we targeted 1 player in particular (LM) to which I thought was a good choice, but he appears to be not interested?

Maybe we need better negotiators.

Not having a go at you but maybe you and a lot of others need to wait until we get to the check-out instead of looking in the troll during a walk down aisle 3.

Lucy replaces Matterson, Talau/Momo replace Masters and ?/Liddle replace Farah.

We still have 3 months to fill the hole left by Farah (small hole at the end) - Walters, Brittain, JRey/Marshall for selected games, maybe Mbye who seems to be in Madge's thoughts.

It is far from wrist slashing time imo and there will be other signings.

@Russell Yes still time on our hands and can manage until next year.. Them gone is a lot of experience we have lost and the young ones will do a good job but as a club its good to have some experience players there to steady the ship through out the season.. My concern is if we have the money next year to buy quality players that doesn't mean we will attract them because we have the money now for some and we are still sitting on a duck egg.. I think if we can pull off 1 big signing we will start the flow for more but the first one is the hardest.. Fingers crossed

???? he sure is

@Russell We are not buying groceries, we are purchasing the near future of our club, if it works out and he comes then our world changes if he can deliver the game we all know he's got. I would have thought that's what we all want.

Not sure what you are on about, but this is a $1m/year contract and he is still twiddling his thumbs going to see the Titans, who have said, they don't have the cash and wont guarantee what position they have for him. We have.

If he's coming (I hope he does) he has some work to do (he is not a journeyman player) and fishing with the family is not one of them, but again, I see nothing wrong in trying to determine his interest by putting a deadline on a decision.
