Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Maybe we just have not got the room in the cap to pay Douihi the total amout. Especially if we are serious about BJ and $200000. for the young Parramatta prop if he comes early.

some of you drooling over his signing would be disappointed if his supposed greatness or potential does not materialize - tone it down a bit - semis performance does not prove anything - that's just a handful of games - anyway I wished the kid greatness and that in turn if he signs with the club - we the WT mob benefits from that (potential) greatness

Semis don't prove anything?

Honestly, I am nearly lost for words...

Origin, finals...they are the ultimate tests of 'who' is quality.

Has it been so long that we have all forgotten what big games actually are? Every must win game in August we have been steamrolled...none of ours have stood up in a must win game for ages now...

But, yeah, semis don't count for evaluating prospective players.

Leilua is looking closer to being a Tiger, no official offer but prepared to pay $500,000 over 3 years.
Douhei is keen & so is Madge, as been said before major sticking point is what Souths will put in. They don’t want to cover anything & we refuse to pay all or his 2021 wage. So that could hit a stalemate.

Thanks for your info. If Doueihi does not eventuate, do we have other players that we are targeting to play fullback for us in 2020.

If he doesn’t sign on, they’ll stay with Thompson for start of the year & wait time see if someone worthy of chasing gets itchy feet throughout the year.

That rarely happens...and the season will be shot again. Cory under the high ball with the new rules, geez....

Douehei is going to be very good IMO, covers multiple spots and kicks goals.

Only we can mess this stuff up. Watch the Storm grab him and he becomes a star.

I really do think we need to just pull the trigger here. No point being cute for $100k. He'll make a big difference to us.

The extra money is worth just based on the fact HE CAN CONVERT TRIES.

Momo is unreliable even with chip overs. Mbye unreliable.

We have had no legit goal kicker for 4 years. The only club not to have one.

How on earth we are not rushing to sign a legit first grader, who wants to come, who covers ALL the positions we need...and kicks goals...I just don't know.

not sure how you can call that reliable YET!!! I am not against him being signed... just don't sing too much praise on him YET.

There was a 45 second highlight reel of those 2 Tries somewhere..

Please don’t show that again they’ve bitten all their nails off and they’re already pleading with Madge to sign him at any price. If you show it then take full responsibility .

Absolutely true.

Douiehi kicked 10/16 goals his entire career, obviously a short career. 62.50% to date. That's worse than Esan.

Sure he might be an ace kicker in the past, but totally unproven as a first grade kicker. That being on the back of @ElleryHanley saying Momirovski is unreliable - Mommers is 21/28 (75%) in FG.

Momo took a ton of chip overs as we almost always went for the two points from pens. Thus inflated stats.

How many did he bang over from the sideline after tries?

And what about the Dogs game? Chip shot for golden point.

We missed the semis by one game...that was it.

I like Momo, and you can tell he works hard.

But he may not even be in firsts if we get BJ and once Tommy is ready.

Don't care mate, I'm not arguing that Mommers is the shiz, I'm arguing that Doueihi hasn't kicked squat.

Who is currently the next best kicker to Momo? Anyone?

If he is on 500k this year and souths pay to end end of January than they have covered around 125k for this year

That should be enough

That's too logical for some supporters. They want to save a miserly amount and have Abbey as our No.1 fullback (when he dully recovers from injury)..

People should go back and watch the Souths v Raiders game...GF qualifier.

Douehei hit holes multiple times...took high balls...and, what would be a massive plus for us, linked up as the extra ball player. Three times he put blokes into holes. One time he put Walker in for a try, beautiful draw and pass... only for Walker to drop it over the line by seeking extra ground.

These skills are all needed in our FB spot.

I honestly get the feeling most of you have never seen him aside from that youtube clip.

With Smith doing an ACL, the chooks are now linked to AJ.

We played tough in negotiations with one of most loyal club men, Chris Lawrence. Value has to be fair to avoid disharmony and set the right culture of loyalty. How fair would it be if we just rolled over on an amount that Chris was wanting late last year.

I'm with madge and pascoe. Hold firm on his worth.

Good post. Douehi has always been a good player. It makes you wonder if there is a disconnect between WTs and Balmain with the quality players es aping our system.

Right well if Origin is the ultimate test then let's get that Gagai bloke off Souths then!

I would have been fine with them not giving Lawrence a contract at all. Club legend yes but surplus to requirements and takes up a very valuable top 30 spot.

To all and sundry saying "Just chuck the extra $100-$200K at AD and make it happen, it probably cant happen like that AND still get BJ.

If it comes down to BJ WANTS to come here and we can make it happen, but that means we cant throw an additional $100-$200K at AD to make it happen (at reported rates for AD), Im OK with that.

Make BJ happen, he is a specialist and proven over years, MBYE or CT in the 1.

If we can still squeeze AD in and he wants to come here, happy days but dont get in a bidding war with other clubs or get into a negotiation fight with Souffs if it means missing BJ.

True, we just need to hold our nerve and have faith in those who are negotiating the deals. Madge and Pascoe know the market and are looking at the numbers every day. imo.

Appreciate your opinion but I think if I had to choose one or the other I’d be going with AD. Not that I think it matters as we should have enough cap space for both.

Paws, it stands to reason that a lack of teamwork at the top would be symptomatic throughout the organisation. For the life of me I never quite understood the politics.
