To all and sundry saying "Just chuck the extra $100-$200K at AD and make it happen, it probably cant happen like that AND still get BJ.
If it comes down to BJ WANTS to come here and we can make it happen, but that means we cant throw an additional $100-$200K at AD to make it happen (at reported rates for AD), Im OK with that.
Make BJ happen, he is a specialist and proven over years, MBYE or CT in the 1.
If we can still squeeze AD in and he wants to come here, happy days but dont get in a bidding war with other clubs or get into a negotiation fight with Souffs if it means missing BJ.
We can fit both easily.
It is not that.
If you read The Pom's message, the issue is Doeuhei's salary in 2021 being backloaded.
We don't want to pay the inflated figure, which is 600 000.
Yes, it is a lot...but will be worth it if he continues on from the form he showed end of 2019. IMO he is going to be very good...offers an extra ball player...offers an opposite side of the field kicker to Brooks...height, safe, young.
Reality is also that you won't get a first grade NRL FB who is decent for much less.
Cheap route = use a stop gap solution / winger there.
The spine is incredibly important in modern footy. Yet we seem prepared to go into the season with stopgaps at FB and hooker. No real ballplayer in either spot.
Hard to fathom, but I hope you are all right with your confidence in Cory. I really don't rate him as anything other than an undersized winger, who tries really, really hard. No passing game, not reliable under the high ball, one assist in 2019, almost 30. All that screams "UK Super League" to me...not "NRL Finals".
