Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

So let me get this right. Roosters lose a back up centre and then they are looking to sign someone who plays fullback and 5/8. Nope. I’d be more concerned about BJ going there.

Nothing will get announced until Reynolds is off the back pages anyway

I say let them laugh! The louder they laugh the better, I say. It’s obviously a master plan so that Madge and Pascoe walk into negotiations with everyone feeling jolly.

The Storm are looking at that someone to play centre. It’s a low start tactic. imo

Brenko Lee is the player Strom will be adding to their roster according to the DT

I’d love to be selling my house to some of you guys 😂

Rushing in and paying overs is what stuffed our cap in the first place but who cares, let’s do it again!

The hysteria on here never ceases to amaze me!

It wasn't that long ago that information was flowing from the club like a leaky boat in the Potter and Taylor era's. Now the ship is locked up tight, no information comes out except for a couple of cooperative journalists. So most of the reporters make stuff up about Wests Tigers and yet people here continue to believe it.

How on earth would Hooper know anything about contract negotiation in Wests Tigers? He has been an outcast for some time now and as such he holds a grudge. He has been caught out numerous times yet it looks like everyone still accepts what he writes as gospel.

Mitchell always wanted to go to Souths. Its a club his father supported all his life. You can only make your best offer, and there is no shame in the offer not being accepted. I would be cautious as to how much WT are prepared to pay for AD, and I would not like to see them offer too many years for BJ either. But I believe we are well positioned for both.

As for the Roosters poaching AD, how could they have the funds available when they only lost their centre 30 hours ago? Doesn't dispensation have to be submitted and approved by the NRL?

I often think the doom and gloom is often only present on the forum itself. The knicker twisters get all het up and feed each others negativity.

I can understand the frustration among the forum members re not getting the signings yet, however we must let Pasco and Madge do their job...It is a bit of a relief that they haven't gone beserk with the cash and are negotiating along the hard line..We have to remember that Ivan was given a free hand to do what he liked...how did that go for us...now that the club is being stringent and not making the same mistake, people are getting up in arms about them being cautious.
Lets be patient and see how things transpire,if its no good lets cut loose on the whole lot,if it works out well, lets give the club credit for doing the right thing..

ps can I like my own post....

No it’s not, you can read exactly the same sort of stuff said about us on other social media also.

Great, can't wait!

Maybe the problem then is that some members (of any forum) take it onboard and it determines their present psyche, and ruins their day. Fantastic!

This is true regarding hooper. He’s on tigers sh1t list no one of importance speaks with him

That’s a factual comment!

Info would be coming from players managers

Just a few minutes away from having electricity connected after three days. Sorry I missed most of the fun today but I am looking forward to the obligatory end of week signing. 🙂

Unfortunately WTs management will never be perceived to be doing anything right. I want to sign AD and JL but these clowns are holding our club to ransom. AD is still an unproven talent and he wants to start barking orders at us. Who do these clowns think we are? Oh yeah, a laughing stock. We sign these players on our terms or meet them in the middle with contract extension options. Both these players hardly have the 16 clubs racing for their signature and as a matter of fact they aren't even wanted by their current clubs. A poorly managed club would throw everything at them just like we did with JR, Packer and Mbye. Let's just relax and see if our management is better and broker a deal that's in everyone's best interest.

I am sure that player managers put us in the ‘desperate’ category and therefore add unreasonable demands. I suppose the only way to combat that is for the club to play tough. Slow transition and bloody hard to watch as we miss out on potential roster upgrades.

I think your right and I don't really get it. The history our club has is unmatched in the league bar probably Souths. To run out onto Leighhardt Oval to a packed crowd would be one of the ultimate experiences you can have in league.

Why wouldn't a fullback want to come here and run off Benji Marshall for his last one or two years of his career. He would triple his try scoring ability over night (which would push up his price in the market).

The club has work to do on their image and they accept that. but it is when our fellow supporters criticise our recruitment and use language to stipulate that we will always be failures that really gets on my nerves. If the supporters cannot talk the club up then why would other teams supporters, player managers and the like do so?

We have bought some really impressive talent in the lower grades for this year. I do hope we pick up these two guys to boost our short term prospects, but in my opinion the seeds have been sown. We keep our dirty laundry in house and we recruit the best of the up and coming talent. We just need the professionalism to bring them through, and a few positive articles in the press and we are on our way.

Watch what the papers write if we win 7 of our first 10 matches....West Tigers are everyone elses second team and we sell papers. We just need to start selling them for the right reasons.

I agree with you Spud. The West’s Tigers have more negative press than Titans who are the wooden spooners. Tigers have never collected any wood so it makes you wonder what all the negative focus is all about?
As Fans/supporters of this club we need to be realistic and also mindful that there are positive Polly Anna’s who will criticise fans for their realism.

I honestly think that the negative opinion about WT is that for a long time after 2005 we appeared to be a team that was going to explode. We played a different style of game to most, we entertained and excited not only our fans but most people that watched us and we were a team of battlers so to speak and weren’t stacked with stars which was relatable.

However somewhere from about 2010/2011 we lost our way and had some really ordinary upper management running the club. Sheens was unceremoniously moved on and subsequently sued the club, we appeared to dump on Potter, made a horrendous decision in appointing Taylor and then went through Cleary-Gate!!

We’ve lost our way as a club and in the process have created the impression that we are a basket case, and rightly so. We’ve made it easy for the media to treat our club as whipping boys and made to be seen as a place that players don’t want to go.

However I really do believe we have bottomed out and are turning a corner, changing perceptions takes time but WT fans are a resilient bunch, our history has forced that trait on us from before the merger.

Tigers backline without any rumored signings:

1. Thompson
2. Nofoaluma
3. Momirovski
4. Talau
5. Jennings
6. Marshall
7. Brooks
No pace, no fear factor. Only hope is they're fitter & more familiar with combinations etc.

Now, compared to a few other squads backlines:

Slimey's
1. Gutherson
2. Sivo
3. Jennings
4. Blake
5. Ferguson
6. Brown
7. Princess Moses

Cowgirls:
1. Holmes
2. Feldt
3. Fatty Marsters
4. Opacic
5. O'Neill
6. Drinkwater (great advice)
7. Morgan

Sea Birds:
1. Trbojevic
2. Taufua
3. Parker
4. Suli
5. Garrick
6. Walker
7. Cherry-Ripe

Could go on but my point is that every team has a strike player in their backs bar the Tigers. Picking up BJ & AD would IMO give us that extra needed punch. I'm hoping management can strike a deal soon because otherwise I'm finding it hard to see where the points are gonna come from.
