The hysteria on here never ceases to amaze me!

It wasn't that long ago that information was flowing from the club like a leaky boat in the Potter and Taylor era's. Now the ship is locked up tight, no information comes out except for a couple of cooperative journalists. So most of the reporters make stuff up about Wests Tigers and yet people here continue to believe it.

How on earth would Hooper know anything about contract negotiation in Wests Tigers? He has been an outcast for some time now and as such he holds a grudge. He has been caught out numerous times yet it looks like everyone still accepts what he writes as gospel.

Mitchell always wanted to go to Souths. Its a club his father supported all his life. You can only make your best offer, and there is no shame in the offer not being accepted. I would be cautious as to how much WT are prepared to pay for AD, and I would not like to see them offer too many years for BJ either. But I believe we are well positioned for both.

As for the Roosters poaching AD, how could they have the funds available when they only lost their centre 30 hours ago? Doesn't dispensation have to be submitted and approved by the NRL?

I often think the doom and gloom is often only present on the forum itself. The knicker twisters get all het up and feed each others negativity.

I agree with you Spud. The West’s Tigers have more negative press than Titans who are the wooden spooners. Tigers have never collected any wood so it makes you wonder what all the negative focus is all about?
As Fans/supporters of this club we need to be realistic and also mindful that there are positive Polly Anna’s who will criticise fans for their realism.

I honestly think that the negative opinion about WT is that for a long time after 2005 we appeared to be a team that was going to explode. We played a different style of game to most, we entertained and excited not only our fans but most people that watched us and we were a team of battlers so to speak and weren’t stacked with stars which was relatable.

However somewhere from about 2010/2011 we lost our way and had some really ordinary upper management running the club. Sheens was unceremoniously moved on and subsequently sued the club, we appeared to dump on Potter, made a horrendous decision in appointing Taylor and then went through Cleary-Gate!!

We’ve lost our way as a club and in the process have created the impression that we are a basket case, and rightly so. We’ve made it easy for the media to treat our club as whipping boys and made to be seen as a place that players don’t want to go.

However I really do believe we have bottomed out and are turning a corner, changing perceptions takes time but WT fans are a resilient bunch, our history has forced that trait on us from before the merger.

Very good description beachy. The 2005 Tigers led by Prince and Hodgo captured the imagination of many and because their flamboyant entertaining play didn’t continue, many may have felt disappointed?

I don't think patience is much of a virtue on this forum. There seem to be a lot of premature evaluators.

My comment is in reference to members sweating on every tidbit of rubbish posted about possible signings. The angst is palpable.
Personally I find it ridiculous that grown men (my assumption) place so much personal energy in something so completely out of their control.
We are following one team, with one coach and recruitment team. They have control over what is happening in recruitment. They are a part of the team we follow. We either continue to follow them with patience or we don't.
As my wife was saying earlier about another topic, 'first world problems'.

The essence of passion is irrationalism. I am invested in my team above all else. Of course we can’t alter the direction or decisions- but we can comment on them. We can voice emotional opinion! Yeah Steve I can understand passion in the game. And I have to admit, I'm not a pleasant person to be around after a close loss. But all the angst about the minutia surrounding recruitment?
I have some faith that Maguire and our recruitment people have some idea what they are doing. They have realistic costings and performance stats to refer to in their assessments.
I can sit here pushing my blood pressure to dangerous levels all night and for what? For all I know, the Chair and Ceo making a big deal about a possible Mitchell signing was all a smokescreen and their real target was AD all along.

Yeah it's really annoying actually. Maybe the Titans get all their negative press in Qld and we just don't see it here, who knows. However, why aren't the Sydney media giving it to teams like the Dragons, Panthers or Knights who all have much better playing rosters than us, but are perennial underachievers that miss the 8 more often than not. They are high profile clubs with big followings that would generate plenty of click bait, why not lay the boot into them and give us a bloody break for once?

This needs to be sorted ASAP for me as we are in the media again for the wrong reason and this has to be impacting our Brand…

Doing yourself a disservice Jonesey, believing everything you read in the paper. It could just as easily be a tactic from player managers to try and pressure the club into a rushed deal.

Mate I just hate all this negative press... Its not deserving considering we finished 9th last year with the team we had... Jees the Knights and Titans have been swapping to spoon for a few years and nothing is hardly said about them and swapping coaches etc...

Mate I agree 100%. Here’s the thing. We are popular. We have an awesome brand. Most people love the Tigers. Click Bait us and you get attention. For hacks like Hooper and Ritchie we are a match made in heaven. I hate it too. But we bring in readers.

Sorry Steve, but I just can't cop this 'click bait because we're popular' reason for us copping the negative press all the time. You can't tell me we're more popular than a team like the traditional Big Red V who have been perennial chokers and underachievers for many years now. I'm sure some negative press about their constant non-success on the field would generate plenty of click bait attention, but we never hear squat about it, it's always us.

Besides all that, wouldn't some positive press about us generate as much attention? Why does everything they write about us have to be negative and critical all he time?

I don't agree, I think Momo and Talau could be an awesome centre pairing.

Momo was a revelation at the back end of the year, and if Benji is to believed, Talau is the most exciting junior in years.

BJ may start his WT career in the centres and end up partnering his brother in the forwards

Not being patient results in getting poor results on the field.New players to the club need to be carefully targeted and not just throw the money at any player because they are available.Look at Clearys recruitment

I agree. Just saying we ARE patient. Most are sick of being patient. We are ready for some decent decisions regarding recruitment. Too much to ask?

Everyone who posts on here would be as passionate about our club and undoubtedly as frustrated as both you and i are.A good coach signs the right players for the right positions. Give madge until the end of 2021 to put his stamp on where we are going i have been impressed with his focus of building from the base(good young players he has attracted).I know it is infuriating at times but hang in there.

I am hoping we get BJ and AD as this will help us in 2020 and I am looking forward to the upcoming season as I do believe we can surprise a few. I know we all have had years of heartbreak following our team, however I cannot remember since our inception the lack of leaks to the media Which is causing the speculation to go through the roof.
I would like to hear from the club as a member for over 10 years and again this year but would be happy to be patient if we get the players we are after.
