Here's one from league unlimited souths forum... take it with a grain of salt...

Titans playing hardball as you know. They want Murray AND Tom. Gags and Johnston staying. The only one leaving is Douhie to perhaps Tigers old news I know but souths will release for Packer AND Mcqueen.

We couldn't get that lucky and it makes no sense because Souths cap would be screwed.

We take all of Doueihi's contract but would supplement some of Packers. They take McQueen full freight in 2020.

Tigers fans should be excited with the leilua brothers on that right edge. Nofo should see plenty of tries this year

TIGERS
Wests Tigers ready to offer Joey Leilua a lucrative deal, but leave Adam Doueihi hanging
Wests Tigers are on the verge of finalising a lucrative deal that will keep Joey Leilua – but are ready to snub South Sydney young gun Adam Doueihi for the sake of $350,000.

While Wests Tigers close in on signing the volatile Joey Leilua to a lucrative deal, the exciting Adam Doueihi has been left standing in the cold amid concern he is being short-changed.

Leilua could make the move from Canberra to Concord this week in a deal that will pocket the rampaging centre $1.8 million over three years.

But the Tigers’ hopes of also signing South Sydney young gun Doueihi are not nearly as positive at this point after they were said to baulk at paying Doueihi just over $350,000 for this year.

Doueihi is on a reported $500,000 for 2020 although the Rabbitohs have already chipped in more than $150,000 just through monthly salary instalments since November.

Most would probably deem that makes Doueihi an absolute bargain for a 21-year-old who is equally comfortable playing fullback, five-eighth or centre.

Souths are saying they don’t need to move Doueihi to stay under the salary cap this year so if the Tigers want him they can pay what he is worth.

It is believed another Sydney club is also interested in Doueihi while Melbourne is a potential option, although Doueihi has indicated that he doesn’t want to leave Sydney.

Meanwhile, Canberra will pitch in about $400,000 of Leilua’s $700,000-plus contract for 2020 with the Tigers then expected to pay Leilua $500,000 for 2021 and $600,000 for 2021.

Negotiations almost fell over on Wednesday when the Tigers apparently threatened to take their offer off the table but those problems related to a $100,000 discrepancy which was smoothed over later in the day.

The parties were believed to be back working on trying to finalise a deal on Wednesday night.

If it eventuates it will be a welcome boost for the Tigers after they missed out on signing Latrell Mitchell and Jai Arrow over the summer.

While Leilua is regarded as one of the NRL’s most temperamental players, there is no disputing he is also one of the most dangerous and can provide the Tigers with exactly the type of x-factor they desperately need.

The Tigers are trying to sell it publicly as if they are not panicking to land a significant signing but if they miss out on Leilua or Doueihi it could be a huge opportunity missed.

It is understandable the Tigers are keen to sign both players for a bargain rate given some of the dud deals they have done in recent years.

But the Tigers can also ill-afford another season to go by where they fall short of a top eight target given they own the NRL’s longest finals drought having not made the play offs since 2012.

Yes I would like some signings, but I am very pleased to hear our admin are doing this the right way. If our admin decides not to get a player, be it Doueihi or Joey Leulua, then good on them for having the guts to stick to the winning formula. Such integrity will lead t o great things sonner or later.

Those figures are in line with what has been reported all along, and are not too bad for the club

Did we really change our MO though? We rated Mitchell, we were prepared to pay what we thought he was worth. When it was clear he wasn't interested we pulled our offer and it was all she wrote. The club has shown they are not going to stuff around with players who are just kicking tyres.

IMO AD and BJ is a much better outcome than Mitchell (whom I think would have been a great signing personally,) as it is much better for depth and addresses a couple of positions rather than a high value purchase to cover one position.

So were we telling all who would listen “we will not pay overs” before or after the Mitchell negotiations?

I wonder if there's any truth to this Packer/Doueihi swap. Wayne's always been a fan of his..

If Souths want McQueen and Packer, he's welcome to them. I think we have enough depth to cover McQueen in the second row (truth be told he was only ever depth since arriving anyway,) and Packer might be happy to go elsewhere if they are a chance of finals footy. Who knows, Rugby League is a funny game.

Good.

The club has copped a hiding over signing players for overs, and now they're copping the toe again for not wanting to pay overs.

No more wage thieves.

Read that. Article is from Paul Crawley he is mates with Wayne Bennett and does write positively about Madge. I’d say he knows the story closely.

Tigers can’t overpay for Douehi he’s a centre or 5/8. Not superior to even Corey Thompson at fullback. We need players but a high priced utility I’d leave with Souths unless the price comes down.

Lol. Hes way better than Corey.
Are you having a laugh?

Doueihi better in every single way.

He’s on P plates mate!

I've seen a few 'P' plates on Lamborghini's and Ferrari's.

How many TRIES an Try Assists and tackle breaks has Doueihi had playing fullback in a gun team..?

It's definitely plausible. They need someone badly up front (especially if GC don't release Arrow) and McQueen would probably see some time in 1st grade for them too.

There would have to be some sort of deal like this. I reckon this would improve our team because I can't see either of these guys getting much first grade time this season.

2 tries and 5 assists in 30 games.

Zero tries and 2 assists in 12 games at fullback.

I really hope we get him. Our right edge has been pretty weak for a while. Marsters didn't come on and we haven't had a great running right edge backrower.

I reckon both Leilula's would give that side a lot of offense.

Do you think Thompson is a better fullback than Doueihi?

His stats are pretty poor. I hope we get him because I think we need depth in our outside backs and spine and he could fill the fullback or 6 role. I also think he may turn into a gun player but this is not for certain and I can understand the club not screwing itself over.
