Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I can't see how Douehi would be on 500k even if back loaded, the guy only just last year cemented a first grade spot, that amount seems way off

I can.

Bennett rated him. I believe the last coach rated him.
I also believe that his manager is Sam Ayoub. Sam would not keep a hot talent at a club unless the pay is there.
I suspect this would have created trouble for the backs OR is creating trouble now. Imagine being AJ and hearing that Douehi is on 500k? Gagai has already made noises that he was unhappy on the wing, I suspect because of Pay.

Did I read somewhere that Tigers have stood down JR from all activities ?

The reason I ask is if that's the case they might of done this so the media circus is not everywhere talking about that and we could announce a possible signing ? Maybe its just me praying that is the case :grinning:

I think you read it on Twitter, but that was a fake account who posted it. So no, not true.

Wasn't Ricky Stuart after him too? Might be wrong but I recall that for some reason.

Wests have moved their focus onto BJ Leilua and Adam Doueihi and gaining scrutiny for not looking to be more flexible during negotiations.

When asked about spending on the open market, Maguire was adamant the Tigers will stand strong.

Good.

The club has copped a hiding over signing players for overs, and now they're copping the toe again for not wanting to pay overs.

No more wage thieves.

Read that. Article is from Paul Crawley he is mates with Wayne Bennett and does write positively about Madge. I’d say he knows the story closely.

Tigers can’t overpay for Douehi he’s a centre or 5/8. Not superior to even Corey Thompson at fullback. We need players but a high priced utility I’d leave with Souths unless the price comes down.

Gee have to disagree on that. They guy is a huge talent whether you play him at fullback or in the halves. Won the fullback position at Souths after coming back from an ACL. He’ll be even better this year. Huge upside to his signing. Bonkers if we let this one slip away.

I think this is why Madge is being so adamant with his negotiations...he definitely is well informed of previous purchases and value for money received..
Im also thinking that he is looking to buy players who will be consistent on the field week to week,by that I mean we have had players who play well one week and don't the next and this is where our blowout scores against us happen which affects the for and against..in my opinion he is putting a squad together that will deliver week to week, not only giving consistency but stability to the team each week..
Im happy to wait and see what Madge produces team wise by kickoff 2020...

Doesn’t look faster to me. He’s definitely less elusive. Doesn’t match Thompson for heart and effort (though few could). Doesn’t match him in support play as a consequence.

Madge signed Doueihi to Souths, he should know what he is being paid. Doueihi and Ayoub will try to push for a pay increase along the way but Madge should have the inside track on negotiations.

If Corey is your first choice fullback. Your club had an issue.

Great guy.
Average player.

Signings are imminent now
Dominoes are about to fall
All hell is going to break loose
Any minute now
Another 48 hours and we will know
Breaking news
News flash
Just in
Big moves
Some minor details to sort
Its a done deal
We just snared someone
He is in the bag
He will be at training on Monday

What will be will be
After weeks of speculation we must be real close to signing a couple of players
We need 3 players to fill our 30 so we may as well spend every cent we have now
Who knows what next year will bring but no point worrying about that
I would be very happy with AD and BJ
If we have the Money spend it
Keep $200,000 for Stefano if he should come
Next year is a whole new kettle of fish
We release those that are not performing

One thing is for sure and that is we are all definitely holding our breath for a signing
It's kind of exciting and frustrating rolled into one

Bring on 2020
And not cricket

Is this a gee up .. ??

Precisely, but I wouldn't be paying fullback money for a guy who has played 30 matches, less than half of those at fullback and hasn't scored a try there. Yes, he has a higher ceiling than Thompson, and I would have him at fullback over Corey if the price is right, but I wouldn't endorse the club throwing the kitchen sink at him based on that.

Tomo way better runner and more elusive with his running.

Doueihi a bigger body, tough, better in d and better passing but way slower Then tomo and tomo way better runner

Did we suddenly change our MO? Or does this show how highly we rated Mitchell?
I’m thinking we learned from the Mitchell business and moved forward strategically. Good to see. imo.
