This idea of being able to sign a player a year in advance is crazy. I personally think this should only be allowed where a club has given permission for a player to look elsewhere prior to his contract finishing. I believe where a player is coming off contract there should be a signing window say from Oct to end of Nov. Outside of the window the only signings should be where a club and a player have agreed to part ways. Of course clubs are still going to sound players out before the signing period but without being able to sign anyone it avoids the farce that we have with this kid and Arrow.

Then if some poor player gets injured around that time they have no future security. They shouldn't be forced to leave it until the end of their contract to secure their futures.

Thats true but with the current setup it could be even worse. Say Uto has a career ending injury this year. All he gets is his minimum wage payout from the slime for this year. Our contract of 800k becomes null and void. So in that scenario the kid loses out big time by signing over 12 months in advance.

I’m a big believer in players should take the most money available to them at the time. These guys put their body’s amd health on the line for 40 odd weeks a year in a game that can chew them up and spit them out at the click of the fingers. Clubs should be loyal to their players but I don’t believe players should be as loyal to clubs with taking “discounts” I’ve said it before, the average NRL career is 4-5 years. Make the money while you can.

Allegedly, LM is taking less to be at South's. You would believe that a manager would have a moral as well as professional obligation to direct his client to the highest offer. I am interested in learning your views on LM and acceptance of the Soths' deal.

Just because I have that belief doesn’t mean players do. I’m just dumbfounded anyone would forgo significant money when your career could be over tomorrow. With latrell, it boggles the mind. Especially only a 1+1 club option at “low money” effectively if his career ended tomorrow he has cost him self in the vicinity of 2 million dollars by choosing his current deal over the tigers deal.

I don't doubt that he has i think it was always going to be the case, just a matter of them freeing up cash. So have they done that or are they in the process of.

JAC hasn’t even been released from Melbourne or split with his old manager, plus Souths would need to release a player to afford him. He will most likely got here but at this point in time he hasn’t signed anywhere else

Where does Mbye fit in though? Captain of the club will have to be in there somewhere. Mbye is a decent fullback if he can get his problems under the high ball sorted.

Hooker

MBye would be an expensive hooker but probably probably the fastest running wise. I honestly really be a great fullback if he master catching the really high balls before the season begins. Cronk with his high kicks was MBye's nemisis last season but I am sure that he could make a very good go of the fullback position he was originally brought to Wests Tigers for.
