Mbye hooker, Momo centre, to be honest I'm happy enough with that.

Moma was great last year against the Dragons, scoring 3 tries and 7/7 goals about 14 tackles without a miss, lines breakers etc etc

Whilst I am a fan of Mbye I believe momo is best suited to centre with the new rule change as he is pretty tall. Where as Mbye is only 180cm. I’m still not sure if Mbye is a 9 tho as I believe his best skill is his second receiver passing game, but unfortunately benji is at 6 and seems to have lost his pace through injuries which means FB is a no go.

I don’t think Mbye is a 9 either. He has sealed his own fate imo. He has been moved around a lot, but hasn’t really excelled in any position as you would expect from a $950k player. And this is why he will be a gap filler player. I would probably choose Moma at 6 ahead of Mbye.

Matt Lodge our for season ACL

Did he do it during training or a home invasion?

NRL PHYSIO

@nrlphysio
This is getting quite unbelievable. 12 ACL injuries in the NRL for the entirety of 2019; now likely 4 suffered at training in 2020 (Billy Smith, Ryan James, Bunty Afoa, Matt Lodge*) before a trial has been played.

I’d argue 9 is Mbye’s best position. He’s not a fullback or a 6. He played hooker in a grand final for the Bulldogs.

Would he be on less now That part of his contract isn’t being paid by Bulldogs? $950k is absurdly high for anyone who’s not one of the best players in the competitions. I’ve read he’s on closer to $750k a year now.

Which Coach Madge exploited.

Didn't Canterbury lose two players or something? They were basically gassed and got blown away in the second half.

As reported we can still go after Grant. Momo stays with us but there is no reason storm cant lend Grant to us for a year anyway to help him get ready for the role after Smith retires.

Except they get nothing in return for 2020! They still need a centre or two.

He’s a dreadful 9! Better at centre then anywhere else.

Mbye and Reynolds will both struggle at 9. Walters has never played there and it’s hard to judge him off the nines format - hopefully he trials well. It’s an issue when he’s the best option for hooker at the club, fingers crossed Simpkin kills it and earns a spot but it’s highly unlikely.

I wouldn't choose Momo over Mbye in any position, they are completely different classes of player. Imo Momo is a fringe first grader. He tries his best and seems to be a solid kid but he is no superstar. Don't get the love.

Is it such a bad thing that it's not going ahead, grub mbye, and Walters can all cover the hooker position...I don't feel we can afford to lose a back....just my thoughts

Momi has plenty of potential but to pick him over a guy like Mbye who has played in state of origins and grand finals would be ludicrous. He finished the year really strongly too.

Mbye will play 9

Wonder how the bench will look. Do we pick Reynolds/Walters or just run with 4 forwards.

I think it's a bad thing because none of those guys you mentioned are hookers. Mbye is more valuable to us in the centres, Walters is a complete unknown over 80 minutes and Reynolds cannot play the position.
