Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The team ATM will still struggle to make the top 8 ... there needs to be a huge upgrade on the roster to be competitive every week . 5 to 6 top flight players are required not the odd one !

If Reynolds goes to Dogs
Who are we looking at
And what sort of Coin

Madge seems confident in Doueihi at fullback
We have our Centres in BJ and Mbye
Could do with an upgrade on the Wing
Brooks is locked in
Marshall on the move at the end of the year ?
Hooker is covered for this year
If Cameron Smith plays on next year I would think we may sign Grant long term

So a winger or replacement for Benji
Do we upgrade someone
Sign another great prospect
Wait for a marquee signing
This will depend on the $ available

Your thoughts
Do we get
Another promising Junior
A winger
A replacement for Benji
Or save the money for a marquee signing
🤔

Was reading this expecting it to be in poem

Well it could be
Sign the right players and it could be poetry in motion

Walters can play 5/8 and hooker. We have a very competitive team. They need to watch their penalties and hang onto the ball. They will go ok.

Defense wins.
Simple as that.
(And I love the flair and tries like everyone else.)
Madge knows what's what.

Yep seen that at the Leichhardt a month or so ago ! Defence certainly is Madge’s priority .

Apparently Jason sabb is looking to get out of dragons we should be chasing him for the future he’s only 19 and will hopefully turn into a big strong fast powerful winger

Would be good to have a tall winger he’s not slow either.

Id say we will hang onto Reynolds cash for this yr with mayby an upgrade or backup on back uo money not 800k.

As to next year we need a 5/8 , hopefully keep Grant which wpuod be an upgrade in cost and backrowers. If we lose Lawrence, Taylor and Eisnehuth mayby Mcintyre then 3-4 backrowers needed for next year and lets be honest Leilua/Garner isnt the number 1 pair of 2nd rowers in the comp

IMO if Harry Grant absolutely kills it for us this year, the Storm will say "thanks but no thanks" to Cammy if he says he wants to play on in 2021. They won't want to lose an up and comer to satisfy a 40 year old.
Time will tell how good Grant is, he wasn't a standout in the trial game vs Warriors in February (not that it is much of a gauge).

He was a clear standout in their trial vs cowboys - you have a good point though however I think if Cameron asks for one more year Melbourne won’t deny him.

Brandon Smith still wants that hooking role so even if Cam retires, Harry Grant probably won’t be a starter for storm and they could even run four forwards on the bench. Gives us an opportunity to keep him

I find it ridiculous how everyone goes on about how underhanded others clubs are, yet here we talking about stealing a player we have on loan. The deal made between our club and Melbourne was revolutionary, and could pave the way in how clubs operate retention/recruitment, and if one of the clubs tries to screw the other over, the first time a deal like this is brokered, then the NRL won’t allow it to happen ever again.

Who's talking about 'stealing'? Nobody.
If Captain Bell-end decides he wants to soak up another year in 2021 and the Storm let him, there's a real possibility Grant will look elsewhere for a starting berth.

Brandon Smith has very limited skills, he's not a quality dummy-half with a great passing game, kicking game, organisational skills etc. He runs hard and direct, that's his main asset. If the gronk retires, you would think Harry Grant to 9, Brandon Smith to lock/2nd row.

Not stealing, just saying there’s a good chance Harry Grant will want to stay as a starting hooker which could lead him to staying at our club. If he’s happy to go back to Melbourne and play second fiddle then we just have to wave him goodbye

Not every hooker has to be good at everything like you said he’s got a fantastic running game, his passing game is pretty good and you would think the more he plays there the better he will get organisation wise especially training under Cam. He’s the NZ hooker and from what I’ve heard he doesn’t want to play as a forward

Mmmm.....I think his skillset is very limited. Good player though.
If Grant shows ability this season IMO he'll be the frontrunner for the 9 position at the Scum.

I think Smith is very short odds he will hang up the boots at the end of the season. So I think Harry will almost certainly heading South
