If Reynolds goes to Dogs
Who are we looking at
And what sort of Coin
Madge seems confident in Doueihi at fullback
We have our Centres in BJ and Mbye
Could do with an upgrade on the Wing
Brooks is locked in
Marshall on the move at the end of the year ?
Hooker is covered for this year
If Cameron Smith plays on next year I would think we may sign Grant long term
So a winger or replacement for Benji
Do we upgrade someone
Sign another great prospect
Wait for a marquee signing
This will depend on the $ available
Your thoughts
Do we get
Another promising Junior
A winger
A replacement for Benji
Or save the money for a marquee signing
?
IMO if Harry Grant absolutely kills it for us this year, the Storm will say "thanks but no thanks" to Cammy if he says he wants to play on in 2021. They won't want to lose an up and comer to satisfy a 40 year old.
Time will tell how good Grant is, he wasn't a standout in the trial game vs Warriors in February (not that it is much of a gauge).
We will see if Cameron is bigger than Melbourne
I think Smith will be given 1st shot if he wants it
I know it would be silly for Melbourne to allow Smith to make that decision but Smith has been there for Melbourne and held them at the top for what now, 17 years
If he wants another year he will get it
We gave Robbie and Benji the same opportunity
I don't think Bellamy will push Smith out
But just my opinion
Smith isn’t Benji. His form hasn’t waned as he’s gotten older. He still plays in a dinner suit, which you can’t say about any other player in the game.
He is pretty contact-shy when it comes to carrying the footy, the dinner suit is a good analogy.
He’s probably made more tackles than anyone else in the history of the game I don’t know how you could interpret it that way. He’s a master of controlling a game. He makes it look easy. The smartest player whose ever played the game.
Since when is tackling "carrying the footy"?
He avoids contact when he's got the footy, he knows there'd be plenty of blokes queueing up to do him some damage. Watch a game, he'd be lucky to get tackled with the ball half a dozen times in 80 minutes.
He’s a hooker. It’s not his job to have to be tackled. He makes plays for others
How many times did Farah get tackled/have collision per game? Isaac Luke? Hookers who play physical get tackled plenty.
However you want to look it, it’s enabled him to play till his late 30’s. Pretty much has a mortgage on his spot and the decision will be his when he wants to hang them up
Cool, would laugh heartily if his refusal to call it a day costs Storm a young gun.
