Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Sezer is pretty ordinary id rather keep reynolds and play him at 6.
Canberra are much better withba proper pommy halfback rather than sezer

he will play on the edge with Joey where they played together for years and have a great combination

That's about the only thing that makes sense of this speculation.

He was very good last year - but I don’t think he’s anything amazing. He was in a very good raiders team which certainly helps. Not sure if he would be able to do as good playing for us, but he’s a better option than Reynolds.

We’ve got Madden there too who could possibly play first grade next year but would rather some experience next to brooks

Should not Brooks be experienced enough by now .. he should be the mature 1/2 from next season .. does he still need someone to hold his hand . There should be no reason one of the younger guys signed should not be given a shot at 5/8 . Brooks needs to step up finally and take control !

If there's any truth to the rumour, I wonder how much $$ Sezer would be on or what we would be prepared to offer him.

It’s not about having someone there to partner brooks, it’s the fact we have a lot of really young guys coming through, we’ll have a young hooker and fullback plus a lot of young forwards. Having another experienced half to partner brooks and help lead those guys around would be better for us I think. Makes it easier for everyone

different thread: Niu (#14 for the Broncos last night) looked promising. Wonder when he's off-contract or how big the offer would need to be for him to do a Matterson. Plays in the centres; looked fast and willing.

Dragons have denied Saab a release for now. If he keeps asking I’m not sure if they can keep him though, his position becomes untenable

What about a trade
Jennings - Saab
McQueen - Saab

Why on earth would we want Sezer? I can think of other positions that can use a 600k boost. Having two left footed halfbacks with the same playing style would be absurd. Not needed, the time for signing him as a starter is gone

That went up $100'000 really quick

Don't need him - especially on one game.

Yeah, I don' mind the Sezer idea. Especially as we have a bit of strike power now with Luciano and BJ. Could work well.

Wouldn't be too fussed on sezer, We have walters, madden, taulua and doueihi who can all play five eight, would rather see any one of them have a go then buy sezer. But i also wouldn't complain if we did sign him.
And same for saab he has only played 3 nrl games can't judge his ability yet but with these new rules him being 9 foot tall would definetly help us hahaha.

I would like to see Walters get a crack at the 6 jumper this year to see how he goes, and on Seizer, he was a five eighth at Canterbury, whilst out of left field, it could work

Is no one else sad about losing Thompson? He’s been great for us and still better on the wing than Jennings, imo.

Not really. Means we are moving past pluggers. Thompson is handy, but he’s a player who you’d have during a transition. Once you start building, there are better options.

Agree with your sentiments there GNR, but I could think of one or two others I'd rather see let go ahead of Thompson.

Titans racing clock to poach Tigers fullback Corey Thompson ...www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au › sport › nrl › news-story .1 day ago

The Titans are deep in negotiations to bring the 30-year-old veteran home to southeast Queensland in a shock mid-season switch. Thompson was the Tigers leading tryscorer last year with nine tries in 22 games but was dumped from fullback for Adam Douehi when the NRL returned last week.
