So its looks like we will need to replace the 6, 7 and 9 for 2021 based on what we have seen so far (unless Cammy play's on )

I wouldn't lock in the 1. He is safe under the high ball, and returns kicks well, but his work when he joins the backline is average at best. Unfortunately this does not bode well for a future at 5/8.

In the current game I think you need a 1 that sits around the ruck , and Douehi isn't that

But we have to start somewhere with a new spine .....of the 3 players available (I'm ruling Grant out ) Marshall is in his last season ..I don't think the right player for Brooks is even out there ...and you couldn't build a spine around Reynolds imo

Douehi obviously prefers to play out the back and use his footwork and change of pace .....

Doueihi can be trained to play that way. It seems like everyone wants to ditch player X because they're not good at one particular area. It's the coaches job to get them to play well in a system.

Definitely 6 &7 not two concerned about the nine , if Liddle’s body stands up the task .

If Smith plays on for the storm, Madge with throw the cheque book at Harry. You can tell he rates him.

He was and wasn't happy with Grant .....he mentioned he still has things to work on in the presser

I'd imagine Grant is extremely frustrated playing alongside Brooks already

You can't train speed off the mark ....when we take off up the middle Grant needs a bloke sitting in his back pocket ......Douehi couldn't match Grants speed .....I'm not saying Douehi isn't a good player ...but he doesn't meet the needs of what the current game is ....and I'd say we have 6-7 players in that same situation in our Top 17

Douehi is a class player, always has been since I first watched him play for Balmain. At this stage, he would be our equal best with Twal and Grant.

Yep
Easily our 3 most effective.

I just don't think that a 6 that suits Brooks is available or possibly even out there ....the only one is playing in France

Who cares punt Brooks !

We have to get our young talent into the NRL more quickly. The Panthers are doing it with their halves, centre, fullback, the Broncos are doing it, the Knights with Hoy and Best. We seem to be lagging.

Their youngsters are better then ours.

If we had a Best, Crichton, Coates they'd be playing. But our best juniors are a long way off that standard

Why is this? Our latest junior recruitment seems good. Do we have scouts in country areas as well? Burton is from Dubbo. The young Parramatta centre is from Werris Creel/West Tamworth.

well Maloney might be interested in coming back and playing 1/2 a season

We’ve got plenty of young guys playing already and plenty that will be coming through. Don’t need to rush them in.

Bloody oath. We are constantly saying certain players aren't ready for first grade, they are still too young, their bodies aren't ready blah blah blah. There's plenty of 18-20 year olds running around now. I'm sorry, but guys like Talau are ready and should be used. Get rid of Jennings and Mbye types that are past it or have been failing for way too long.

All I hear on here is “let’s get rid” mentality over and over again that’s just plain silly.
You really think that there’s a silver bullet ready and waiting to take on the NRL requirements outside out top 30 ..... let’s try it and see how disappointed you get.

Paws didn't knock him at all .....just said the way we are most likely to crack sides is with Grant / Brooks up the middle

I haven't seen him focus on sitting in Brooks or Grant's pocket like a Papenhuyzen or Tedesco does

He seems to focus on playing the 2nd man out the back and use that good footwork he has

But as many clubs are learning (and the dragons as an example are the worst ) that the 2nd man ..2nd man play is almost extinct if you don't have a flat runner hitting an angle or a quick play the ball

What's silly is persisting with the same rubbish and constantly falling short. The only thing that disappoints me is that our season ends weeks before 8 other teams every year. I think madge is starting to see it too. By the way there's plenty in our top 30 that shouldnt be anywhere near a NRL teams top 30.

Given at the end of the season you can sign players for 2022 I would target the following players somewhat under the radar but strong.

Emre Guler, Ronaldo Mulitalo, Phoenix Crossland, Spencer Leniu, Sitili Tupiounia, Liam Martin.

We need to keep building with younger players. We have no hope with proven stars.

Liam type workaholic is what we need in our 2nd row. He’s got attitude in his game that we need. Or our Brownie back from the eels.

I don’t think we need another workhorse backrower.

Twal has it covered, Garner & LL can also cover fine. Unless we have a bigger version of those players there isn’t a point to upgrade.

We lack ball players / 2nd phase. LL can play a role in this but isn’t getting any decent ball. Our prop rotation in JA & TM is it, there isn’t a rotation - we need another 2 big boppers that can actually bend the line, quick play the balls and provide an offload. Musgrove could fit the bill but he has alot of limits.

MCK was also a spark yesterday, only speed we had over the slug machines we have on the bench previously.
