Put pressure in Grant to not want to go back or go for a year and come to us in 2022

I find it amusing that WT supporters get in a rage at the thought of Parra putting pressure on Stefano to break his contract with us, while we are suggesting that we should put pressure on Grant to break his contract with the Storm.

Pot meets kettle.

We're not guaranteed to keep Grant if Smith stays on another season and he activates his get out clause. Other clubs are watching the Smith developments closely and will be ready to strike.
It has a Nathan Cleary feel about it.....damn, we were that close

Yep. People even have gotten outraged that Parra wouldn’t release him a year early. Also, imagine if Melbourne were trying to hang on to Momo for next year.

Ponga’s signature leaves Hoy in limbo, but O’Brien insists ‘he’s got a future at the club’
Newcastle could lose Tex Hoy after locking in Kalyn Ponga for another four years (Photo by Mark Kolbe/Getty Images).

Locking in superstar Kalyn Ponga for another four seasons is a huge coup for the Knights, but where does that leave rising star Tex Hoy Could be worth looking at ,Marshall on the way out Douhei to 5/8 Hoy to FB 20 year old played well on debut well thought of in the Hunter but can they afford to keep him a half decent offer might get him away from Newy

Players breaking contracts is only allowed if they come to us. Just like how we want Saab... has a few years left at dragons 😂

If Smith plays on its not the storm's choice as to whether Grant goes back or not it his choice as per the clause in his contract. In saying that it doesnt mean he wants to stay here with us he could very well go to another club, although i'd be quite happy if he chose to stay here. Plus i dont think Madge would pressure him to break a contract.

We just want something to go our way for once
We need a few more good signings like Doueihi
Would be happy with Tex and Saab
I don't think we will land a top line back at the peak of his game
Our best chance is to develop from the pool of talent
But I hope I am wrong

I personally want grant to go back to the club that developed him, and gave him a chance to grab an origin jersey with a rival club. I would love for him to stay , sure, but it really is poor form . We have Simpkin and Liddle, 2 very different 9s who could compliment each other perfectly. And both have shown to be keen to build their future here. There’s talent in all 3 , so we are in a position at this club .

Douehi is one of our own homegrown talents. We need to continue with signing the best junior talent and nurturing our own juniors.

Hoy won't leave Newcastle. His father is a surfing icon in the Hunter and the Knights will ensure he stays, as they should.

Don't know how it can be considered poor form if we got him to stay? Poor form is the norm, look at the way Roosters pillage top juniors from other clubs, they don't have a conscience when it comes to having guilty feelings towards a club that has nurtured homegrown talent over a couple of years/through injury etc like Tedesco.
Grant hasn't been at Storm long at all IIRC, not sure how much time and effort they have put into him.

So next year, Storm could have the Qld and Aus hooker Cam Smith, NZ hooker Brandon Smith, and NSW hooker Harry Grant.

Sounds 'bout right.

Ravalawa gets another 3 year contract with Saints

wonder if that is a indicator that Saab is on the outer

Ravalawa is horrible, but Saints probably have no choice..

I wouldn't stress too much over it. We'll have Liddle and Simpkin on hand and I reckon Simpkin will become a better player than Grant.

I think Liddle under the new rules could really be a standout... if he can stay fit.

It’s poor form because the deal was brokered on a sense of trust where as both players return to their old clubs . You can rationalise it however you want , but it is not the moral thing to do despite what the roosters do or don’t do .

Grant is a Queenslander so he wont be NSW hooker.

and ? What has that got to do with the deal that was brokered. If it’s deemed in the best interest of both clubs and there’s no ill will, then sure , but if it means we are being dishonourable , ala , Parra Eels style , I can’t see how if you are advocating that , you’re not the worlds biggest hypocrites .

Not to put the knocker on Liddle, I like what I saw in his younger years but of all three Grant has hit the ground running. Simpkins is close but is also unproven.
I’d be trying to keep Grant and maybe sweeten the deal with a early release of Simpkins to the storm so he can go back and play in his home state till Smith is ready to call time. If he plays on a couple more years Melbourne won’t have much option in keeping Grant especially if he has established himself with us as a quality first grader by seasons end.
