No way. We won’t get him back.

Well it’s not the worst idea.

It works both ways. We honour the Storm deal the Broncos must honour our deal. There’s also the chance that the broncos may try to force the issue which could then open up the loop hole for us to try and retain Harry Grant...

The thing is though, if the Broncos are looking at our young fella to play first grade, why haven’t we done it first?

Because we like to baby our players and wait until they're around 22 before they can play first grade.

Would be great for us if Simpkin got some FG experience and id be happy to grab a winger who we can keep next year like Farnworth or Isaako or a young backrower

I reckon that’s a great idea . We get a goal kicking winger in Isaako and Simpkin gets some first grade experience

I don't think Simpkin is in our top 30 squad.

No your right his Development player but in the same boat as Hoffman. He can play if we need.

You know it wouldn't work out that way. Guarantee we would end up losing both.

Titans have reportedly put in a 4 year offer to Fifita for 1 million a season and Broncos can only afford 750 k a year. That should get the young fella thinking.

I reckon we could match that offer.

Ethan Bullenmor id take. Already played a couple of games of firsts. But realistically we need to swap him for their next in line prop, as that’s where we are short.

Yeah, well look at the drama we’ve had the first 4 years trying to keep playing in firsts the youngest halfback / five eight in the comp.

On 360 they were reporting that the Titans may be going to offer Fifita a lifetime deal ala the deals Cherry-Evans and Taumalolo got with Manly and the Cowboys.
Would laugh at that, Fifita on a 10 year/$10 million deal would be a disaster, he'd have less motivation/output than Hayne the flop dished up. Sign him up Big Mal!🤣

Interested to know on what basis you could be sure it would be a disaster? I wouldnt think eitehr the DCE or Taumalolo deals are disasters.

DCE has only guided Manly to 2 x Top 8 appearances in 4 Seasons of that massive contract. That type of money would demand at least 1 Premiership

DCE and especially Taumalolo are consistently good week after week. Fifita is a once-in-handful-of-games highlight, apart from his solo run vs Cowboys this year I cannot recall too many other standout performances from him since he debuted.
Just think he would be on par with Hayne's signing up there. Massive money, no incentive to get out of cruise mode, it most certainly wouldn't surprise if he was a massive flop if he had the security of a $10 million deal in his back pocket. He doesn't come across as the consistent pro who churns out quality every week.

I think part of the thinking with these massive 10y deals is that the player is on overs at the start, and a bargain at the end. I think right now, with the scarcity of top quality halves available on the market, DCE would be worth about what he is getting, I think that is about market price.

That is quite possible. I personally think Fifita is a once in a generation player. I think he and Taumalolo will end up close to best forwards of all time by the end of their career. it would take a special kind of contract to get a player like that to the Titans (or us for that matter) and a player like Fifita could be the catalyst to turn a club around. Hayne was washed up already by the time he got to the Titans.

How about other clubs do a coach swap for a year

Mary goes to warriors and Kearney goes to saints

Robinson coaches Titans and Holbrook coaches Rorters, that would be an interesting experiment to watch.

I'd be more worried Madge might leave ......

On the topic of our young forward pack. Does anyone know if Christian Welsh is being locked at as a possible replacement for Packer or ET?

Personally I think he would be a smart acquisition and seems to of recovered well from his knee injury.
