Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I can't believe people are buying into this Benji is leaving rubbish from the SMH... He shot it down emphatically on NRL360. He wanted to come back here in the first place and it will damage his long term brand more than any gain from going to another club.

Adding two young forwards in Fifita and Tino with big potential to a young core including Brimson and Taylor is huge (If Holbrook can get Taylor firing).

That's the biggest if in the game. But, yes, They could have a decent side next year.

Personally have not heard that Fifita is definitely going to the Titans. Last i heard he was waiting and giving the Broncos time to clear some space.

IF Fifita does end up at the Titans, you have to give credit where credit is due. This is a team who have won multiple spoons in the past few years and are perennial under achievers. Adding two young forwards in Fifita and Tino with big potential to a young core including Brimson and Taylor is huge (If Holbrook can get Taylor firing).

The Titans and a few other clubs are also sniffing around Clifford and Drinkwater as it will appear one of them will be dispensable once Morgan is back.

Think we should be at least looking at Clifford.

I don't like the talk of Benji being shipped around. Surely the best thing for all concerned is for him to fish his career as a Tiger.

Reynolds is going well at the moment but who knows what could happen over the course of the season.

If genuine we should refuse that release every day of the week. Reynolds hasn't put together an uninjured season in a long time. I think Benji will still be needed this season.

Its genuine i have a mate that is a players agent and he does not talk BS.

You do realise player agents talk almost nothing but BS? It's what they do. Dispicable monsters.

If benjis manager is still shopping him around then benji should fire him instantly!

Also doubtful fifita would go to the titans. Better clubs will offer similar but slightly less money. If money is his only objective then he'll fade away on the coast.

All player agents would be full of BS it would be safe to say.
Benji would get a gig at 3 or 4 teams if he was really keen to get a game at another club.

Well let's see what transpires, just giving other forum members a heads up, comments like yours ensure i should not share reliable information in future.

I do believe that the manager is looking for a quick buck and been testing the waters and Benji has stated no harm in asking otherwise why would he?
This Information also has got out, questions no doubt asked by Club/Madge that's why a quick denial not to disrupt the playing group or fans.

Yes he said what the fans wanted to hear but his manager is still making inquiries with other clubs to see if there is interest. Personally i would rather he stays and keeps supporting the Team and wait for his opportunity as it will come again.

Meh all that means is his manager is doing what he should be doing . Looking to get the best deal he can for his client , to then tale back to his client and say “look this is what the other clubs are offering”
If that’s 600k it would be malpractice for him not to. If it’s 175k and and benji is getting 150k here then , it’s clearly not worth it. Hypothetical figures by the way .

I hope Benji stays and helps develop the young guys who seem to be respondant to Benji, however if we look at it in the perspective of what Madge wants from the players,JREY has done the job rather well and the team is playing much better defensively …
Benji has been an absolute stalwart for the club and idol to many, many children over the years, his time has come to step back and look seriously at retirement,he has won a premiership, put the WTs on the map and repped NZ many times..
Madge wants to change the culture of the club and if your absolutely honest with yourself Benji has been the culture of this club for many years, his flambouyant style had fans off their seats and was praised day after day in the sporting media,he truly has been there done that,an icon to rugby league and the WTs ..
BUT the game has changed, times have changed,Benji is older and needs to finish here in whatever capacity, that will be his legacy, not his manager shopping him aroud for his 6% commission..

Champions get to chose how they go out and Benji is a champion.

We don't inform a champion it is time to retire. It is simply not done.

Ii is good to remind ourselves that Reynolds is one game away from being an $800k reserve grader (again).

You have your opinion and I have mine, you don't like JR that's fine,Im telling you some home truths about Benji and its as if I have condemned him...read my post in the correct context and then comment in a mature manner without degrading JR who is doing just what Madge requires at the moment...

If champions get to chose how they go out, tell that to Simon Dwyer or Taniela Tuiaki..both champions in my opinion and went through no fault of their own...Benji has the opportunity to stay here and leave an everlasting legacy,,,he doesn't have to move to another club because his manager wants some dollars..

Yea , what did he want guys to be like “omg you’re totally right , benji is gone . I really trust you , random person on the forum “ .
People are gonna say it’s true , it’s not , or I don’t believe it , or that doesn’t make sense . Seems pretty strange to be so sensitive about it

It would be a tragedy for benji to leave the Tigers this season. He knows it. The club knows it. It would yet again tarnish his reputation if he decides to bail on his club after being dropped for a few games and destroy some of his legacy. It would show that he's weak, arrogant, selfish, lazy and he'd risk all that for 10 games with the warriors to finish his career? And if he concedes more tries when in a weaker team he ends up retiring a joke. Benji wants to go out a champ, and champs fight for their spot, so everything they can to get picked again and please their fans. If he can't be bothered doing so in his final season it would be a tragedy for him. We also don't have a backup for him so there's that too. Experiences backups on minimal coin don't grow on trees and we couldn't replace him mid season. All of this adds up to him staying.

Absolutely no doubt. I think Madge wanted him here before he jumped to the Bulldogs from Penrith. Got close. CHN is a New Zealander. Madge coach. We will have a massive shot and need to take it.

i think we should loan benji to warriors and if reynolds gets injured we can do a deal to get him back like what roosters did with young forward.

I'm curious: why is Benji's manager looking around if Benji doesn't want to leave?
