I've just heard a rumour, and please note it is a rumour that the Tigers and Storm have agreed on a permanent swap between Brooks and Grant.

Somebody check on Geo, I have concern for his safety

Nah we'd have to trade Nofoaluma and Brooks for Grant

how about JAC, Bronwich bros, Vainakolo, and Papenhousen for Walters, McQueen, Mbye and Packer!

I dislike copying others' methods.
However, as much as I also dislike the Eels and Brad Arthur, I cannot ignore how they have advanced since their wooden spoon.
Their recruitment has been an eye-opener.
I feel that Wests Tigers are just beginning to escape the tragic misdeeds of Cleary and others, the salary cap anomalies are slowly being reversed and countered, and I am optimistic of what's to come.

It will be interesting to see how the Eels progress over the next 4 years I think that will be the extent of their window. Majority of their leadership players are around 26-29 and they probably have maxed out their cap on buying a premiership team, so there is the bones of the side to remain competitive for a decade however what depth they have in the wings and how they replace Jennings and other senior players will be key to them remaining competitive. Panthers have a much broader window in my opinion and in reality the tigers are probably basing our future off the panthers mould more so I’d say.

They still have no juniors there just buying from other clubs

In reference to Penrith or Parramatta?

Parra

Oh ok, that’s what i wasn’t sure about.
Still it hasn’t stopped the Roosters in achieving success.

Unless we go back to the olden days of the 60's and 70's @Needaname where you actually had to live in the area of the club you played for....or when each team had to have a certain no. of local/juniors....Wests Tigers need to be aggressive in pinching other clubs players, both young and old.

I think when allowed we should start sniffing around PENRIFF they have a number of up and coming youngsters Steins is only on a development contract and will cost them salary cap space when he signs a NRL contract also that young Burton goes well also.

Great suggestion

Both have massive upside and would better opportunity at tigers to become regular NRL platters sooner rather than later

Keep an eye on Charlie Staines playing for Penrith today, he’s a young talented back who I believe is available to talk to come November

He is quick and plays well.

Very quick. Still just a kid but he has skills, don’t know how likely he is to leave Penrith though. Can play anywhere in the backline including fullback

He is not a Panther junior but another good country player from Forbes.

Panthers group has bought so many small RSL and Leagues clubs, anything west of Kellyville is Penrith

My young bloke plays div 1 for Emu plains and at every game there’s always 2 Pamfers talent scouts with their clipboards ..
Massive nursery to scout from .

No doubt. My point is Bathurst, Wellington, Wagga Wagga etc, these places are all Pamfers nursery now too because of money poured into local clubs. These kids are brought from the bush into SG Ball

Exactly, in today’s 17 there were kids from Dubbo, Forbes, Parkes, Wellington, and more in the extended squad

Stupid part of all this is we could have based ourselves in Campbelltown years ago, poured the money into junior development in west and southwest NSW and had the same sort of programs in place. Instead for 20 years we have bumbled and fumble our way along as a club with no real home and even now have plonked ourselves down in the centre of Sydney forever. This club will always be playing catch up.

You know our owners may be called Wests, but they are based in Ashfield. Always have been.

They weren't always the sole owners - Campbelltown had a share but got done over nicely. No big deal - Wests Ashfield can just keep pumping money in to Balmain juniors while they ignore the Macarthur junior nursery.

To clarify doesn't the Balmain juniors also encompass a lot of the old Wests Magpies junior district? The quality coming out of this area and teams justifies the investment. This is no reflection on the Campbelltown Macarthur region but I recall posters expressing concern about what was happening out there. Are you able to confirm what the situation is out there now?

Cue the hordes of cheering, but really hope not. Brooks would blossom down there and we will be spewing!

But don't worry, those calling for his head will be satisfied they have Jordan Rankin at 5/8 and Sam Williams at 7 if he hasn't already signed with Dewsbury.

No truth at all to the Brooks/Grant rumour. People are over complicating this situation when it is very simple. There is no need for a trade from either side, it will be completely up to Grant should Smith stay on.

In other news, Canberra looking to acquire Granville to cover Hodgson and the Dogs making a big play at Reed Mahoney!

Macarthur are not interested in the Tigers - why should they go out of their way to help them.

Then have them sign with the Slimys and the Riff. Waste of money.

Brooks has plenty of raw ability. Madge might be able to eventually turn him into a marquee halfback but I'm pretty sure Bellamy would and fairly quickly too!

Im a Brooks fan, but the Brooks bashers have a point, he has had plenty of time to blossom into a Marque half if it was going to happen, although he has spent his whole progression in poor to average sides.

IMO he will never be a marquee player but he is already a good player and will probably be come a very good player. He is probably already top 6- 8 halves in the comp and Im not sure people here understand how hard it is to get a very good half. If you have one, grab him with both hands and make it work
