Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

i think put AD in as the 6 next year and make a play for JAC for wing and Alex Johnston fullback.
Centers we will have depth with Joey L Mommo Talau, Asu, Mmbye if we cant offload him and i would try and do a cheaper deal with Jennings as depth. Give our younger guys a further tear to develop in reserves.
A backline of
1. Alex Johnston
2. Nofo
3 Joey L
4. Talau
5. JAC
6 A Douhie
7 Brooks

AD is a better fullback than AJ, that’s why he was playing there for Souths last year.

Just needs to be injury free and improve his positioning.

i just dont know about AD pace, think he would make a great 6. Problem is i dont know if AJ would make a great fb or not but faster and better than AD

Yeah I like Welch - great player - but we need a right edge second rower, wing and fullback way more than another prop. Prop rotation probably only area of squad that is actually up to standard.

Im not that sure we actually need a wing, unless he is a great goal kicker or JAC. Nofo is doing a good job and Talau/Asu can hold their own on the wing. I think we could do with a good better centre (could be Talua maybe). Fullback, jury is out on for mine. Doeihi does some things well, others not well enough.

Kepoa and Talau both would make better centres. We need speed badly it’s why Nofa stands out. Douihei, BJ, Kepoa, Talau are all bigger bodies but we have no real speed machine.

Nor sold on talau in centre need to beef him up in Athens forwards

Was only a month ago we were salivating about our prop rotation in 2021. So why waste money on Welch when we could use it in other areas?

Did you watch his performance last night against the Roosters, top shelf.

He is a great player. We can’t afford the contract with someone with two knee reconstructions. It’s too big of a risk for the Tigers.

You’re only at like 5 or 10 percent more chance of doing your ACL again if you did it before, so not that much of a risk.

I just think we’ve got a lot of props for next season. We need a second rower

I agree.
A pack that begins with
Packer and Welsh with Aloiai and Mikale off the bench is just much much better looking as far as I’m concerned.
Backups, Clarke (if he doesn’t retire), Eisenhuth (if we resign him for a lowish wage).
Twal can remain at Lock or join the rotation. At this stage with the way we need to play he’d be better to remain at lock until a similar build player with more skills comes along.
Welsh is 24 by the way.
Sam age as Twal, Josh, Mikalee...

Welch is a terrific player and a good signing but we need a second rower more than a prop. If we could get a second rower who is a work horse and does a lot of the tough stuff to take pressure of our middle men it would be a big boost.

Someone like Tohu Harris (not him exactly but someone who plays like him) who does a lot of work would he really good for us. Garner, Lawrence and MCK just aren’t up to doing that

Could we play Twal as Second Rower? Just a thought?

Doesn’t seem to have the skills for it. Never seen him pass or run a hole, maybe he has it but seems like a prop or lock to me

I dont care. Who we get as long as he has speed and kick goals. We need to turn 4 into 6 with confidence. Makes a huge difference. Missing this for years and I am sure some misses the easy ones are momentum killers!!!

We need to go in hard for Welch , and flanagan

I read Melbourne are in talks with keeping him - apparently they have more salary cap than last year when he was about to leave so they’ll have a better chance of keeping him. Guess we will wait and see

I've suggested this before. No one said it was stupid, but no one agreed either.

Aloiai started off life as a backrower and has a bit of pace off the mark. Could be worth a try.

The more I think about it, really think we should go hard for Scott Drinkwater to play #1. Was rated above Paps before he did his knee, has good speed and can’t see him getting a spot in the spine up at the Cows.

Definitely.
His not of the same build as most props and we are short creativity with him at lock in the middle.
His got pace two and his number one attribute is what we are crying out for in that right backrow position.
I would say if he was able to run lines it wouldn’t be much of a downgrade in terms of presence as to a Proctor. Harris has him on the skill side but is mostly used as a meter eater and defender these days.
Harris first, Twal to second row 2nd for me.

Will take time all young big outside backs need at least 30 games under their belts. He’s a massive human and centres these days are all large humans.

Reece Walsh is the fullback to target.

I find it amusing fans complain about our pack getting dominated yet all of our players are undroppable.
Aloiai and Garner are bench players. Garner may not even make our bench of we can recruit well, but he replaces both mck and Lawrence positions in our squad.
Twal is way too slow and lacking in agility to play out wide, as is aloiai. Welch would certainly help us a lot

Hail Mary Full of Grace, I hope we sign someone with a plenty of pace!

and if we were all catholic there would be pace.

Hasnt helped the Bulldogs

Aloiai has been great this yr,yes died off the last few games with Twal, Musgrove missing and sometimes Packer,Can't see him moving from the fwds back to the edge now has beefed up quite a bit, probably lost a a few yards of pace and his hands have never been the best.Definitly need more forward depth, the team is struggling there at the moment,if Clarke is not re-signed and possibly Eiso then that's two more down next year with only Stefano coming in.

We need another starting prop for sure but with so many at the club next season using up a decent amount of cap I think we should use our money elsewhere - spend on a half, second rower or winger, these are all more important for me Target a good prop for the 2022 season. If we sign a good enough second rower it will help our props a lot as well.

We could pay for Welch next season and our pack would improved but if our halves keep struggling and we don’t have some pace on the wings we will still struggle.

Guess it’ll go down to Madge on where he thinks we should spend our money for next season - there will be millions to spend for the 2022 season as well.

For all his crap Pangai would give our pack the mongrel , and along side him Welch from the storm , and young Flanagan , he also gives us a A - grade goalkicker .
