Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Yeah I like Welch - great player - but we need a right edge second rower, wing and fullback way more than another prop. Prop rotation probably only area of squad that is actually up to standard.

Need a decent goal kicker, first and foremost. Fit him in wherever.

I think Shawn Blore is being groomed for that right second row spot. Id rather have another prop to be honest. We need more forwards that can push us forward threw the middle. Another half and a fast outside back - preferably a winger as I think we are sorted in the centre position with the likes of Talau, BJ and the emergence of the younger ones in Kepaoa, Kei, Hoffman and Cini.

We need a forward who can lead! None of our guys seem to be able to step into that role consistently. Luciano is most likely, but he is still young and settling into playing first grade on a regular basis. Aloiai has good leadership qualities off the field, but is too inconsistent on it, imo.

Did you watch his performance last night against the Roosters, top shelf.

He is a great player. We can’t afford the contract with someone with two knee reconstructions. It’s too big of a risk for the Tigers.

You’re only at like 5 or 10 percent more chance of doing your ACL again if you did it before, so not that much of a risk.

I just think we’ve got a lot of props for next season. We need a second rower

Is that all? Meniscus injuries being recurrent are almost nailed on once you tear it once (I speak from experience.)

I’m certain I saw the NRL physio say that. I’ll have to double check.

Aloiai has been pretty consistent this year. He’s average 140 running metres a game which is the best I can remember a prop doing for us in a long time. I’ve been super impressed by him

Meniscus is the type of word I like to say when I've got a whisky in one hand and darb in the other. Rolls off the tongue magnificently

Not doubting you Josh, I'm surprised is all. I've torn my mensicus in my right knee twice. Three times in my left. Was basically told by physio that once you do yourself an injury around your knees it's basically going to happen again. Mind you my injuries were never operated on as I was deemed not worth operating on when it could be rehabbed without surgery so maybe that's what he was getting at?

Depends where the tear us and obviously how big it is ...if you have a flap that is getting caught up continually and locking your knee up it needs repair

Google said there’s a 3%-6% more of recurrence if you do your ACL. Might be different for other parts of the knee though but normally the reconstructions work pretty well

Im not that sure we actually need a wing, unless he is a great goal kicker or JAC. Nofo is doing a good job and Talau/Asu can hold their own on the wing. I think we could do with a good better centre (could be Talua maybe). Fullback, jury is out on for mine. Doeihi does some things well, others not well enough.

Kepoa and Talau both would make better centres. We need speed badly it’s why Nofa stands out. Douihei, BJ, Kepoa, Talau are all bigger bodies but we have no real speed machine.

i think put AD in as the 6 next year and make a play for JAC for wing and Alex Johnston fullback.
Centers we will have depth with Joey L Mommo Talau, Asu, Mmbye if we cant offload him and i would try and do a cheaper deal with Jennings as depth. Give our younger guys a further tear to develop in reserves.
A backline of
1. Alex Johnston
2. Nofo
3 Joey L
4. Talau
5. JAC
6 A Douhie
7 Brooks

I'd like to see Brooks at 9, just doesn't seem to have it at 7.

His numbers have still been good. Just looks a little tired - considering he’s carrying the pack every week and our halves don’t know how to control a game it’s not surprising.

When Packer only takes 4 runs a game and We are missing Twal and Musgrove poor Josh has to do it all himself

Maybe with a deadset young skilled 5/8 he could be the 7 we were always told he is....(Joey Johns comparison)...Im not knocking Benji but I have said many times that although he is our greatest player and legend he stifled Lukes game big time as well as coaching change all the time....thats just my opinion anyway....

Looks good though can’t see us getting both Johnson and JAC. Momo at 4, Talau at 5 (and Momo kicked at 75% for us last year) would still be an improvement imo

I agree.
A pack that begins with
Packer and Welsh with Aloiai and Mikale off the bench is just much much better looking as far as I’m concerned.
Backups, Clarke (if he doesn’t retire), Eisenhuth (if we resign him for a lowish wage).
Twal can remain at Lock or join the rotation. At this stage with the way we need to play he’d be better to remain at lock until a similar build player with more skills comes along.
Welsh is 24 by the way.
Sam age as Twal, Josh, Mikalee...

Welch is a terrific player and a good signing but we need a second rower more than a prop. If we could get a second rower who is a work horse and does a lot of the tough stuff to take pressure of our middle men it would be a big boost.

Someone like Tohu Harris (not him exactly but someone who plays like him) who does a lot of work would he really good for us. Garner, Lawrence and MCK just aren’t up to doing that
