We should get a goal kicking halfback to replace Marshall I would try to bring Sezer back from England & keep brooks in the number 6 jumper I think he will be the one to organise the team & keep the pressure of Brooks.

He's off contract after this year.
No
Awesome player but panther through and through
Wouldn’t come to us
Bog average imo
Plus he’s a flog
He is the reason the 'No DH Policy' exists...

I must have been in a coma when the club made that policy official.

Mutually beneficial for both.
Who do we replace him with you ask?
Can’t get a half for the same money you say.
That may be true but in an adjacent conversation we are constantly talking about how Doueihi isn’t a fullback and would be better suited at five eight.
Whose currently playing in the five eight position?
As some mentioned Madden or Flanagan but all in all replace him with a halfback and buy a specialist fullback.
I think Barrett could do wonders with Brooks.
Why can't we do wonders with Brooks?
Cleary could. What you have written seems to concede we have a coaching issue.
There are no bad soldiers, only bad leaders.
He needs someone that can give him that confidence. Believes in his ability.
I’m not even sure Cleary did. Remember from the moment we signed Cleary there was talk of him wanting his Son to play for him. Maybe that challenge spurred Brooks on, who knows.

Cleary got Brooks playing in career best form. It’s been a downward slope since then.

i dont remember his form in 2017 or 2018 but have seen this been mentioned so much, i dont see him anywhere within coo'e on important stats for these two years.
Was it really that different to this year?

Yep, in 2018 he won dally m half of the year. His form then was significantly better. He was a fantastic playmaking half.

Try him in the halves imo. He’s fast with a good passing game. With the right coaching I think he could be a quality match for brooks.

Didn’t Hollbrook, state this the other day? Or is this a more inside word?

He did very well last year too. This year he’s been woeful for whatever reason. Maybe coaching maybe it’s himself, surely not much has changed since last year

Id rather have another prop to be honest. We need more forwards that can push us forward threw the middle. Another half and a fast outside back - preferably a winger as I think we are sorted in the centre position with the likes of Talau, BJ and the emergence of the younger ones in Kepaoa, Kei, Hoffman and Cini.
We need a forward who can lead! None of our guys seem to be able to step into that role consistently. Luciano is most likely, but he is still young and settling into playing first grade on a regular basis. Aloiai has good leadership qualities off the field, but is too inconsistent on it, imo.
Aloiai has been pretty consistent this year. He’s average 140 running metres a game which is the best I can remember a prop doing for us in a long time. I’ve been super impressed by him
His last 3 weeks he has dropped off considerably
His numbers have still been good. Just looks a little tired - considering he’s carrying the pack every week and our halves don’t know how to control a game it’s not surprising.
When Packer only takes 4 runs a game and We are missing Twal and Musgrove poor Josh has to do it all himself

As far as stats go. 2019
Brooks led the league for line engagements.
Led all half’s for run meters.
This year it is a combination of lack of cohesion, confidence and composure.
Can’t knock his effort, just nothing seems to be honest effectively executed.
The other elephant in the room is the new rules.
This In my opinion is affecting the whole team this year.
Last year we led the league for post contact meters and also led the league for least missed tackles.
What leading the league in post contact meters meant is that we weren’t running the majority of our meters before contact.
With the introduction to the six again. Our team can’t capitalise on the benefit when in our half. We simply don’t make enough meters out of yardage for another 6 tackles to be worth it.
Last year a penalty in our halve would give us a temporary breather, allow us to reset and have the team actually start the new set on or near the halfway line.
I would say teams that are leading the comp are teams with the most solid forward packs and those that do not struggle to get out of their own end.
How that impacts Brooks and Marshall, as both are playing poorly, I’m not sure.

Playing him at 6 for next season is actually a pretty decent option I reckon. No idea how good his kicking game is though
