He said they probably won't have enough money to sign Mbye. I say give him to them for free.

Try him in the halves imo. He’s fast with a good passing game. With the right coaching I think he could be a quality match for brooks.

Playing him at 6 for next season is actually a pretty decent option I reckon. No idea how good his kicking game is though

Lets not roll the dice next season with positional changes.

Do it this year as it can't get anyworse as it is. It's likely we won't have much to play for anyway.

Everyone has being saying he's a running 6 for years, the only CLOWNS that don't get it are the ones running the show. He'll, I even believe with his leg speed, handling and ability to chime in, he could be a handy 1.

Joey Johns suggests the Dogs recruit Mbye to partner Foran in the halves next year as a running 5/8. Particularly if the Tigers are going to pay half his wages.

Maybe the Tigers should try Brooks and Mbye in the halves, got nothing to lose. If it works out ok then the club can retire Benji and try and offload JRey.

I think the issue here is that Mbye and Brooks both play on the left. Mbye spent his career on the left at the Dogs.
Left = Brooks, Walters, Mbye
Right = Benji, Reynolds, Doueihi

Although I suspect Doueihi and possibly Walters could play both sides.

Fair point you make @nrlsurvivor. Mbye at 5/8 would probably play predominantly on the left (as a runner) and Brooks would need to play on the ball more (both sides), a bit like DCE and Walker at Manly.

I think you’re right about Doueihi, he seems effective going down the right edge.

Mbye is a 1 or a 6 and Doueihi at this stage is a centre. I don't see why so many people are keen to see Doueihi move into the halves. There's nothing I've seen so far this season that suggest he's got the ball playing ability to succeed there right now. He's an ok ballplayer at FB, which isn't really enough for a half. It's likely he'll improve on that front and hopefully he'll get some pace back once he's over his injuries so he could be a good long-term option at FB.

I'd like to see Mbye given a run over Brooks in the halves. We know what Brooks is and it's not very good. His 2018 was his best year for sure, but it was mainly him doing well in support play and taking advantage of loose balls/broken play. Very little creativity and poor kicking game, although his grubbers near the line then were a lot better than they have been recently.

You can blame our pack again and again but maybe part of it falls on their halfback not being able to organise, not being able to choose the right options late in the tackle count and losing the field position war by kicking to the opposition on the full all the time. Fact is we haven't had a great pack but by no means at all have they been helped out by Brooks. We haven't made the finals since Brooks has been at the Tigers. Every other team has. Him, Lawrence and Nofoaluma are the only constants - one is a broken backrower who's played half the games and the other is a winger.

If we could move Brooks on to another team for full freight, we'd be absolutely mad not to. No team is winning a title with Brooks as a 1st or 2nd option in the spine. Maybe if he was at Melbourne as their 4th choice half just playing a supporting role it's possible, but you're going nowhere building a team around him.

Sounds like JAC is ready to start talking to Melbourne and rival clubs about his future now that he’s found himself new management.

Suggested him a while ago but Albert Hopoate just got loaned out for the remainder of the season to the Warriors, off contract at the end of the year so is a free agent.... strong and fast young upcoming fullback who’s been blocked off first grade due to Tom turbo so interesting to see how he goes if given game time, has huge wraps on him too

That may be true but in an adjacent conversation we are constantly talking about how Doueihi isn’t a fullback and would be better suited at five eight.

As some mentioned Madden or Flanagan but all in all replace him with a halfback and buy a specialist fullback.

I think Barrett could do wonders with Brooks.

Cleary could. What you have written seems to concede we have a coaching issue.

He needs someone that can give him that confidence. Believes in his ability.
I’m not even sure Cleary did. Remember from the moment we signed Cleary there was talk of him wanting his Son to play for him. Maybe that challenge spurred Brooks on, who knows.

Not having a go at you specifically TigerLouis but we are outside the 8 and look destined to finish 10-15. All Im seeing is suggestions that wingers will fix that?

I don’t get the Widdop hype ? He had a few good years like 3 years ago . Last year he was horrendous , and he was doing nothing in super league before Covid . Plus he’s older than Josh Reynolds . I think Madden could be the go . I know guys don’t rate him, but the CC cup games I saw , he looked like an organiser. You stick him on an edge where the goal is to get the backs early ball , and just control the tempo , that could be enough . The issue as has always been , is a lack of explosiveness in the backs to turn half chances into full chances. As well as Luci atm seems to get his arms free at will . Where is Doueihi! He needs to stick right up Lucianos butt. That’s the only area where Thommo is miles ahead of Doueihi .

Brayden Trindall, a right side player, seems a very good young player. He's a solid body as well and his defence is good. He and Toby Rudolph would make a big difference to our team.

We need new blood for a new start
I think there is going to be to much pressure to handle for Brooks now
To many years of failure for one man/boy to handle
I honestly think we need to change our halves
There might be a few cheaper alternatives on the market soon
