Samoan connection could be about to add another player to the club with Bunty Afoa’s name discussed this week. Warriors keen to offload & free up a Roster spot. Will pay majority of 2021 deal if needed.

Thanks @THE_POM any other general info?

Negotiations with Saab have stalled for 2 reasons, 1. Other recruitment opportunity’s arising 2. What Dragons wanting in return becoming sticking point also. Deal not dead but not as close as it was a few days ago.
With all these coaching changes the roster management is really starting to shift, also NRL hasn’t confirmed what size team lists will be next year.
Recruitment issue next year isn’t about cap space but roster spots. Club wants to free up some spots for 2021, this will ultimately cost us Esienhuth at this point.
Proctor has been discussed internally & a question of value was brought up with his mama helmet but nothing further.

Any idea what positions they are targeting? Surely a half?

100% a half is on the agenda, but that is tied in with moving on a big $$ player.

Sorry last one from me! What is happening with Benji?

Apologies for the load of questions, really appreciate your info!

Is there any talk of another fullback and moving AD to the spine or centres or is that just forum coaches

Makes sense, halves are not cheap and we’ve got a lot of money tied up in Reynolds and Brooks already. Fingers crossed Reynolds can be moved on.

That’s a changing novel every other week, but can’t see it being resolved before end of the year. Honestly will come down to what can be done to free up spots & who can be recruited. But it’s being treated as if he will be involved with the team in some way next year.

On the Doueihi question, he will be given more time to lock down that fullback role, ankle really holding him back on kick returns, will probably need a surgical clean out at seasons end.

I don’t mind the idea of The Bunt on the cheap - 24 yrs tomorrow, 60 odd games of experience and still has some up side.

Eisenhuth gone huh. That's disappointing. He's finally kicked on in his 4th year with us. Seems a waste to invest so much time in his development only for another club to reap the rewards. I think he'll do well wherever he ends up.

That is quite promising on Doueihi, playing the way he is with an ankle that might require surgery at the end of the season, he didnt look that slow at souths.

Club wants to retain him but has been asked to be patient while roster is turned over a little bit understand that if something comes along from another club that he needs to look after himself.

There was talk of a potential swap with Reynolds and Widdop...is that something that is/was ever considered or was that just a media beat up?

Sorry for all the questions, what’s the club doing player retention wise? Obviously it’s hard with next year being uncertain of squad sizes but surely they are at least in early discussion with some guys who are free to talk to other clubs come November

Avenues involving Reynolds & the Super League are being explored.

Only 2 players off contract in 2021 have had extensions discussed (Aloiai & Twal) but early days.

It’s the right two guys at least. Hard time for the club to do all that stuff at the moment I guess.

Surely they won't waste a roster spot on Benji, he will be 36 and is already on the decline fast

Is Blore someone the club will be looking to extend beyond 21?

If the squad size goes down + we can’t move on Reynolds it would be tough to hold onto Benji.
