- Roster has 11 gaps (including development players being upgraded and Stefano signing)
- Benji goes around again - 10
- Squad to 28 - 8

It may be cause its early for me (or because I'm slightly dusty) but, I don't get the lack of room for players.

Who are the 8 (10)?

sorry mate but if you do a count of who has a contract on the squad list it's at 24. if you add Momirovski and assume we re-sign McIntyre that's 26. if in fact squad numbers are reduced to 28 that leaves two spots, one you'd think to be filled by Marshall unless we can move M'Bye or Reynolds on, and that last one would be filled by one of Addo-Carr, Staines, Afoa, Proctor or Jason Saab. situation is very difficult so you can see why they're trying to move players on.

I can't imagine the club being dumb enough to play Marshall one more year. Such a waste of a spot.

Nothing would surprise when you hear the young guys being interviewed they all see to mention what a buzz it is to have Benji in the teamthey grew up idolising him and hear they are in the same team wouldn't take much of the cap up so if there's room nothing better available I'dsay Benji could still be around

One of the issues this year has been no harmony in the halves. Chopping and changing hasn't done us any favours. If we're moving AD to 5/8 that's fine, but we need to stick to it. Marshall is the kind of player that gets heaps of media attention and will be expect to be picked if he's on the roster. Better for the club for him to retire and take up a role in the club where he can still be involved. It's a distraction we don't need.

Found a nice little Burton + Staines highlights video. Yes, they aren't up against NRL level opposition. BUT for the price, I would much rather these guys as opposed to wasting spots and cash on Proctor and Saab for example.
Handy kicking/support play from Burton, and great kick returns from Staines

Pretty sure it's against our CC or u20's mob too and they outclass them big time.

Give Benji a coaching role then have him involved.

I don't want him to play beyond this year. it'd be a trainwreck and similar to Thurston in 2018. but looking at POM's mail they may ask him to be our backup 6 with Doueihi or Reynolds being our first option and look to Staines or JAC to play out the back.

If Reynolds stays just put him at backup I reckon, or play Mbye there if he's still around.

I agree, Reynolds as backup, Madden as backup to the backup. There’s no room for Benji next season.

That is the worst outcome! Madden should not have his progression blocked by Reynolds. Team harmony cannot be good with Reynolds picking up big $ and offering up very little. Give Madden the experience.

We are all pretty much talking the same language, there are just differences on current year development players and Momo
Of the 24, 4 are current year development players (Simpkin, Madden, Cini, Bradley) and I'm never certain they are guaranteed upgrades to the main squad which is why I count them separately. This may be even less certain in a move to a 28 man squad
Add Momo and we are at 25, agreed
If you sign 3 new players that's 28 which leaves no room for McIntyre/Eiso/Benji unless:
- we free up a spot by moving a player (e.g. JRey, MCK, RPack, etc)
- we free up a spot(s) by one or more of the current development players listed as full squad members in 2021 not being moved into the top squad

If the squad stays at 30 then we may extend some of those three possibilities or use the spots for additional signings

It’s his first year in the top squad, he can’t be expecting much game time, with no reserves this year his progression has been pushed back somewhat too. Happy for him to get a handful of games next year but wouldn’t be getting many.

Benji should just do what Rowdy has done .. give it a couple of weeks then announce retirement.. the club will step in if need be as he has no contract for next season and this should not be left to the club !Then the non decisions that come from board level anything could happen. I am sure Benji knows it’s time and straight into a nice media position..

Just like Chris, Benji has plenty of options outside of playing footy. It’s time for him to retire and if he won’t the club should tell him they won’t be signing him, doing favours for our old boys hasn’t gotten us anywhere.

You use him or lose him. We know other clubs are interested. Get rid of Reynolds. He and Joey Leilua must go down as two of the worst acquisitions for WTs.

Dont dump Benji and some of the developing players just yet ....

we still need value contracts until we are able to recover from the panic buying spree.

Not bagging the players at this point in time, however we have too many players on inflated contracts an not delivering

JRey, Mbye, Packer, Jennings.

The better players on the market like JAC wont come here to be the 4th or 5th best paid players.

No, but that's a topic for another forum, all I'd say is don't believe much if any of what you see on the television or read in the papers
Anyone that universally rubbished (and I'm not talking Benji) must be doing something to upset the status quo which is built on corruption and cronyism and which isn't designed to serve humanity, just themselves and their own self interest

You’re not wrong. Some real bad misses in there

My hunch is Bradley’s spot would have a question mark hovering over it.

Considering the signing of Kepaoa, the elevation of Hoffman for that one game and the club openly declaring the intention of adding speed to the outside backs.

The tall Bradley is more of a long strider and was playing in the back-row through the junior grades before shifting to the wing in CC.

It’s his first year in the top squad, he can’t be expecting much game time, with no reserves this year his progression has been pushed back somewhat too. Happy for him to get a handful of games next year but wouldn’t be getting many.

You use him or lose him. We know other clubs are interested. Get rid of Reynolds. He and Joey Leilua must go down as two of the worst acquisitions for WTs.

Happy to get rid of Reynolds but easier said than done, I’m assuming we will have to keep him one more year
