Bevan French has knocked bad an extension from Wigan, wanting a return to the NRL, which opens up a move for Josh Reynolds to take his spot according to the telegraph. Wigan will chase him according to them

Oh god please. PLEEEEEEEEEAAAASE!

An extra $700k in the cap would certainly make life easier

No way a SL club pays Reynolds $700k

They dont have to, they could offer him a long term deal for less and secure his future. Normally when guys go to England you don’t have to pay for them right?

Of course you do. Reynolds has a contract and he is unfortunately entitled to every cent of it

Not if he asks for a release. Most of the time guys go to England that seems to be how it works, you don’t hear of NRL clubs paying ESL clubs money that comes out of their salary cap.

Hes 30
Hes gonna get $800k next year with us...he cant get anywhere near that in ESL,so unless we pay a hefty subsidy he doesnt need to go anywhere and hope he may pick up another gig somewhere in 2022 (like Benji has done)
All the dice are in his favor..and same for Mbye who is younger and has an extra year with us@#@%$#!!!

Reynolds is taking a 3 year deal with Wigan due to Madge’s contacts there. We won’t be paying a cent Grub will get a long term deal and more money than he will make here over the same period. He will kill it there and good luck to him.

Matulino retirement and Geub moving to the ESL are massive for us in rebuilding this roster. It’s bottom of the table all day.

I hope you are right because it will start to clean up the mess cleary left us in

It’s more than Clearys mess we have failed to create a club where players want to play and juniors stay. Paid overs for outsiders when we have the third biggest junior league in NSW.

Massive back ended contracts, fall of Balmain, Independant NRL Directors, 4 coaches in a few years, management lacking in Rugby League Nous etc.

Year 1 was 2018 it will take 5 years to recover. I’m not kidding we won’t be a threat before 2023.

Yep I would say that if get some decent recruitment done in next two seasons then combinations will click around that time.
For me what our recent games have demonstrated is that one of many things we lack is a forwards leader. Just watch the replay of last night .... JWH showed his worth in leading that young pack. That’s our priority purchase in the forwards .... there is just no one in our pack that shows any such quality, they are all followers .... a leader please.

I agree. We have to have a pack mentality Utoikamanu will be key to upgrading our prop rotation. Aloai, Twal, Mikalele, Utoikamanu have the potential but at this stage with the exception of Aloai it’s potential.

The best pack leader out there that’s off contract is Nathan Brown. He’s a lock but leads by example. Early days but Blore may be that player.

If we can obtain Jack Hetherington away from the Panthers he imo is a feared leader in the same way JWH was when he first came to the Roosters.

Everyone is talking about who is the best player for certain positions and how to improve our attack. From where I sit our attack is okay, not brilliant, but okay. On the other hand our defence is embarrassing, so recruitment should be all about bringing in people who can defend and defend well.
This club is lacking good old fashion hard headed leaders. Players who will rip in and get a job done. The current squad throw the towel in the minute something goes wrong.
JAC would be a handy signing, but it will not address our real issues, so I hope there is roster and cap space for a couple of hard heads

Breaking news!

As I stated over a month ago, that the Wests Tigers were favourites to sign Josh Addo-Carr I’m now being told that the deal is practically done and should be finalised over the next few weeks!

Christian Welch looks likely to remain at Melbourne Storm following this season, however there is strong interest from various Sydney clubs!

There’s also ongoing discussions with Super League clubs and the Wests Tigers in order to send Josh Reynolds to England...... a potential Gareth Widdop for Josh Reynolds trade is being discussed but no further actions so far - Jackson Hastings too!

I’m hearing Albert Hopaote looks set to join the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs for the 2021 season, definitely a young gun to keep your eyes on!

Esan Marsters is being shopped around aggressively with the North Queensland Cowboys desperate to get him off the books - a few potential suitors with the Dragons, Warriors, Bulldogs and Gold Coast Titans all sharing slight levels of interest

The Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs are favourites to acquire Brandon Smith for the 2021 season..... however the Wests Tigers also share a strong interest in Smith if Harry Grant returns to Melbourne

There is no way JAC will sign with the Tigers.

Why do you say that?

There is zero interest from Tigers in JAC.

Wrong

Agree, I’d rather see Proctor on that right edge than Garner. He’s too hit and miss in defence.

**NRL 2020: Wests Tigers clear to snare Josh Addo-Carr as Canterbury pull plug on chase.**

David Riccio, The Daily Telegraph

**With incoming Bulldogs coach Trent Barrett loath to add to his long-list of outside backs in 2021, another Sydney club looks set to take on Project Josh Addo-Carr and work on turning him into a top-class fullback.**

The Wests Tigers will have clear running to transform NSW State of Origin star Josh Addo-Carr into a fullback with rivals Canterbury withdrawing their interest in the try-machine.

Addo-Carr’s signature is now the Tigers to lose with News Corp Australia learning that incoming Bulldogs coach Trent Barrett is loath to add another winger to his long-list of outside backs in 2021.

The Dogs currently boast backs Will Hopoate, Nick Meaney, Tim Lafai, Reimis Smith, Jake Averillo, Marcelo Montoya and Kerrod Holland on their books with $1.8 million signing from Canberra, Nick Cotric, also on his way to Belmore next year.

Canterbury management believe that signing Addo-Carr, who has long been connected to the club, would prove salary cap suicide.

Addo-Carr has made no secret of his desire to leave Melbourne and return to Sydney to be closer to family and it’s expected the Storm will release the Test winger on compassionate grounds at the end of the season.

The Dogs decision to exit any talks with Addo-Carr leaves the Tigers without any market competition which would secure Addo-Carr to a homecoming of sorts.

The premiership and NSW Origin winner played 10 games for the Tigers in 2016 and his return would also coincide with a shift from wing to fullback, which has come with serious concern for former Test forward Mark Geyer.

Geyer said Addo-Carr was a risk for the Tigers at fullback — with a move to centre, a better option.

“I think he’s a born and bred flyer on the wing. Some people are genetically born like that, he’s a sprinter,’’ Geyer said on Triple M.

“He looks like an Olympic runner.

‘I think he’d have more chance of making himself into a centre than a fullback.

“As we’re watching with Latrell (Mitchell) and how hard he’s doing it and he’s played a bit of fullback coming through the grades, he’s a six-foot-five, 105kg man, while Josh Addo-Carr is 85kgs.

“He (Addo-Carr) runs at the moment for about 124-metres a game and every other fullback in the game runs for around 200-metres, so for a start he’d have to up his anti as far as game-inclusion goes, which would take away from his explosiveness and which would take away from his potency.

“Everybody wants to be a fullback because you get more money, he’s being smart.

“But is really being smart to show another side of you that people don’t want to see.

“Every time you get the ball the crowd stands on their feet and that happens 10 times a game. You compare that to 25 times a game (at fullback), where he’ll just be another player.

“(Adam) Doueihi is going to be a great fullback - I think he’s their future at fullback.

“You’ve also got to be mindful if you're signing a player from the Storm, how many Storm players go good after they leave?’’

Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire has held talks with Addo-Carr in recent weeks with premiership-winning coach confident the 25-year-old is the ideal run-threat the Tigers require in their backline.

Ever since the departure of James Tedesco in 2018, the Tigers have been unable to lock-in a long-term plan.

Adam Doueihi is the latest addition and has been making the most of his opportunities at the back.

The signing of Addo-Carr, who has scored 73 tries in 97 first-grade appearances, would prove pivotal for the Tigers recruitment after holding discussions with several major signings over the past 18 months.

Latrell Mitchell, Matt Moylan, Jai Arrow, Kurt Capewell and AJ Brimson are all previous signing targets of the Tigers.

Bennett and Bellamy are both available in the next yr or 2, if they don't retire.
Dare we?

Unless they're bringing half a dozen great players with them it won't make an iota of difference who is coaching us. A crap roster is a crap roster whatever way it is polished.

Something that came out of the wreck last night is if you throw the ball around you can upset a few teams we don't have the forwards that can break the line when you continually just it up to get to your kick you are easy pickings defence has ruined the game with everyone paranoid about it I would rather WT'S throw it around ala 2005 than to get in to an arm wrestle an run 2nd

Assuming Utoikamanu is as good as advertised and Blore comes back into the picture, our pack is honestly ok. It's still a very young pack; Garner is the oldest and he isn't even 25 yet so there's plenty of improvement to come still. I really like Hetherington and I think he'd be a good buy, but he wouldn't be essential. Apart from Garner I don't think there's too much upgrading which needs to be done.

Our backline if we get Addo-Carr and play him on the wing is fine too. No need to move Doueihi from FB.
To me it's just the halves that need to be fixed. We need two new ones.

1. Doueihi
2. Nofoaluma
3. Leilua
4. Talau
5. Addo-Carr
6.
7.
8. Aloiai
9. Liddle
10. Musgrove
11. Garner
12. Leilua
13. Twal

14. Mikaele
15. Utoikamanu
16. Blore
17. Mbye/McINtyre

Two decent halves and that's a top 8 side. Two crap halves and it's a bottom 8 side.

I hope this "withdrawing from the Race" is not the classic souths spill and in a few weeks announce they have signed him..

As a Club we need a big name signing just to lift the spirits around the club and fans.. This week would be ideal but as we all know it will drag on for months.

Sign some good halves or a fullback and move Doueihi to 5/8 please and thank you

I reckon Doueihi can do the job at fullback. He is safe under the high ball. His kick returns are improving out of sight and he can ball play in that role. He is also a threat when we are in the attacking zone.

I think he will make a better fullback than JAC. We need a left winger though and JAC would clearly do the job there. Nofo, JAC and AD look like a pretty good back 3.

I like Doueihi at the back he was fantastic last night but if we can sign a good fullback and move Doueihi to halves to strengthen our team overall we have to do it. We can’t afford another year with bum halves

The problem with Doueihi in the halves Brooks is his partner .. this is not going to work !

Forgotten man Facebook - (just another rumour mill)

Its a typical Bennet ploy....just go back a year to Mitchell

Souths will find someone to medically retire then they’ll take JAC on a trip to Russell Crowe’s farm and he’ll sign for half his worth

Good player but too unreliable for us.

Yep and they actually have a decent player to compensate Melbourne for the early release also - AJ.

JAC, if signed, may well define our next few seasons. He will obviously be on big $$$ if he comes / fullback money.

1. JAC and AD at 6.

We will need both those positional changes to work, and do so at elite level.
