Absolutely correct about Benji. He deserves credit and respect for his efforts and his love of the Club. Agreed that the rocks and diamonds metaphor is appropriate but let's not lose sight of his achievements as a Tigers legend and celebrate it appropriately.

I think a lot of us do appreciate him but also dislike the show that comes with him.

He gets dropped after the Titans game...whispers come out that he may finish the season with the Warriors. He 'hears from the media' that he won't be offered a contract for 2021 and a furious storm of media allegations come out against us. You can be great without being precious. *And* aside from '05, '10 and '11, 3 seasons out of 12 ('04 - 12, 18-20) when has the team succeded with him?

Great player but time for a new era.

Can we start a Facebook page to get rid of Benji?

Where do I sign

We don’t need one. He’s gone in 2 weeks.

Not sure why people put up Telecrap stuff - if you don't subscribe you can't read it.

Headline says it all anyway - if you can believe anything they say.

Just tap on the yellow writing the thread was taken from Google News feed

Great summary, and I 100% agree

The "club legend/great/hero" proponents must have forgot when he signed for another club and code and appeared in their colours while still under contract to us because he got benched and spent four years elsewhere after saying he'd never play against us.

Sad in a number of ways if true.

I have calmed down a bit after last night but on the balance of things the bad outweighs the good. By all means celebrate the past and enjoy the sublime skills he still has. As you point out Bogan, he has made some dud decisions. Notwithstanding, based on performance alone you can give up the two trys he sets up so you don't cop the errors. End of story. Madge doesn't want a game plan that involves starting from 20 points down before you wake up and this has been part of who we are for a long time .

Michael Carayannis from The Telegraph is reporting the Tamou deal is worth around $700k.

$350k for two seasons is a smart deal from the Tigers, as is the possible $550k a season for JAC. Hopefully they both work out, sick of over spending on players.

I believe he took less from us over the Dragons bigger offer. Handy pick up at 2 years.

Dragons are more of a basket case than us. I read Tamou lives in western Sydney and didn’t want to move houses either hence tigers being a good option

Griffin named as the new Dragons coach may have also been a factor in Tamou’s decision

Sounds like the Saab and Garrick swap is on. Seems like we pulled out of the race for Saab, probably because dragons wanted a replacement for him.

Club has turned its attention towards Staines, more up side and a potential long term fullback solution. Will cost a bit more than Saab though.

Would be surprised if they got both JAC and Staines - would mean JAC would be on the wing and offering him fullback might be our best shot at signing him. Would be very happy with both though

I actually find it hard to believe he found out from the media first - in an article. I doubt anything more than speculation would've been suggested there before the club held any talks with Benji.. That just doesn't add up. He's probably used it as a cover because that would be the only thing you could really hold against the club if true - other than that he hasn't been 'let go' from his contract, rather another hasn't been offered, and you can't really play the unfair/poor treatment card there.
