Sounds like the Saab and Garrick swap is on. Seems like we pulled out of the race for Saab, probably because dragons wanted a replacement for him.

Club has turned its attention towards Staines, more up side and a potential long term fullback solution. Will cost a bit more than Saab though.

Would be surprised if they got both JAC and Staines - would mean JAC would be on the wing and offering him fullback might be our best shot at signing him. Would be very happy with both though

JAC will be given an opportunity to play fullback. He won't have it all his own way though.

So based on the rumours from the Pom we could possibly line up like this for 2021
Addo-Carr
Nofoaluma
Leilua
Douiehi
Staines
Mbye
Brooks
Twal
Leilua
Garner
Aloiai
Liddle
Tamou
Bench
Reynolds
Hetherington
Mikaele
Musgrove
Reserves
Kepaoa
Cini
Talau
Momorovski
Bradley
Walters
Madden
Blore
McIntyre
Chee Kam
Packer
Simpkin
Utoukamanu
& that’s our top 30 squad for 2021 is this squad capable of making the semifinals next year

I think we´ll need a bigger evolution of the starting pack than that.

Yeah based on starting packs performance this year (oof) , with tamou and JAC i reckon finals, then 2022 semis when we have more.

Good side, however unfortunately we can only have a squad of 28, So i don't think Staines or Hethrington will be there.

Looks like squads are remaining at 30

Staines is the cousin of an old mate of mine. I’ve known about him for some time and been following his development for a couple years now. He’s a prodigious talent and it makes sense for the club to identify a long term fullback specialist - we’re the obvious club without a bonafide fullback and there isn’t another Tedesco or Papenhuyzen coming through our junior system at the moment. With Grub finishing next year the club will have some spine money freed up in the cap for 2022.

From what I’ve heard the club is offering JAC good winger money and opportunities to play fullback with bonuses built into the contract that’ll reward him if he nails it.

The club can offer Staines the opportunity to have a shot at becoming the long term fullback and we’ll be able to reward him well in due course if he delivers on his potential. If he’s good enough he’ll have JAC as his wingman and it’ll change the whole dynamic of our backline with much needed speed.

Don't be teasing me now

After Tamou and JAC, isn't there something like $300k to buy 3 players? Am I wrong? I thought we had to buy 5 players for 1mill(ish)

3 rookies. Madge has signed a bunch of kids already wouldn’t surprise me if he signed some more

I pray he hasnt signed he hasnt signed Tamou, with every fibre of my being, unless Madge see's serious leadership issues. Tamou is just a decade older, lesser tank version of Twal... Put Twal in the props.

Mikalele isnt Tapau, similar build, but not as dynamic, rotate with Twal.

Plenty of calls for McIntyre to Lock.... Grow him into the role rotating with Blore. Big boy roles dont happen at 22-24, takes time to build. Find a Lock, we have props. Big player, short term roles arent needed in the pigs, LOCK!

JAC also isnt a FB.... Madge will lose us all thinking Twal is a Lock, and JAC is a FB. Staines is the FB we need. Speed doesnt = FB. Fullback is an intelligent roll and JAC would have trouble writing his own name... Big dollars for jac would have AD, JAC.... most expensive 3/4 line in NRL history....

The worst thing Weststigers could do right now is to get rid of too many experienced players in one hit, already shaping up as losing Lawrence, Reynolds, Packer, Marshall, Taylor, Chee-kam, Jennings and Mbye. I know an injection of class players like Tamou and JAC would be excellent but I'm worried a mass cleanout has a smell about it like what's happened with the Broncos, they culled heaps of experienced players and ended up like shot ducks. I would be happy with just Tamou as Captain and if we can retain Nofa and most of our team and still manage to get JAC then woohoo. Sign Madge long term. Ggrrrrrrr

He's like a successful Twal. And yes the club has extremely serious leadership issues. We don't have a single on field leader. Not one.

And losing a pro like Lawrence at training means we need a new guy for the kids to look up to and model themselves on off the field.

Neg rep me all you like, but if you think Tamou is the answer, I will have 2 yrs from all reports to remind you. 100m a week in the top team in the league and you think he is a solution....

He'd be our top prop, and for 2 years at 350k 0a solid deal.

In years gone by we'd have offered 500k a year for him

We need a leader, a guy that can tackle, and a guy who'll make his metres regardless of the opposition. Our props all run away from a battle. Maybe Tamou can fire up the rest of the pack to follow his lead.

He's not the game breaker our pack needs but he's a leader of men and that's a great start

And a whole hearted bloke who will attract other quality blokes. Heard SBW talking about being a good man before a good athlete, don’t like SBW but reckon Tamou fits that mould.

yep, i may be wrong

POM mentioned 3 names as additional targets and then prefaced it as unless we move some players on there won't be any more signing news.

I take that was JAC tamou done and thats it unless JREY or Packer goes.
Which adds roughly up to that 1mill figure

They’re like a couple of boils on a bum those two, painful and hard to get rid of.

I get that , but to me the leaders weren’t the older guys . To me this year it’s been garlic sauce , Benji mbye and nofa. Outside of Benji they’re all there next year , I don’t see the leadership vacuum.
