OFFICIAL Simon Dwyer [Discussion]

I never used to like him, but I have to say I have warmed to Freddy. Might be a space cadet and ex-Roosters player, but once you get past that he's a very likeable guy.

I actually love Brad Fittler. He's a lovely fella and very funny. I often find he struggles to put what he's trying to say out there, but the thoughts behind it are usually quite right. He also has a pretty good eye on commentary. Always seems to call the play correctly the first time. I also notice he tends to favour us on commentary a lot, which is surprising…

Freddy is first class and all class. Off the wall but aren't we all. Good on Freddy and good on Bodhi for this thread. All the best Simon, you're a champion.

Freddy is a character and a top bloke. You can see he enjoys himself but that he is also a considerate loyal bloke. He's been pretty good to Simon and good on him.

Freddy has always been my hero since his debut, which is weird cause have always loved the tigers but grew up in the blue mountains! Legend of a bloke and champion player. Got the thrill of some pre season training with him whilst playing junior reps for roosters and he was always so helpful and giving of his time with advice. Wish he was at our club but he is just a true rugby league man!!! Great what he is doing with simon!!!!

Just wondering if anyone was successful in bidding on a match worn jersey from the Rd 21 v Melbourne.
If so, what Jersey did you win.
I was lucky enough to have the highest bid on Marty Taupua's jersey.

Thanks westy81,
I hope for Simon's sake they were all picked up.
I know a lot if them didn't reach the reserve.

What do these 3 guys have in common? All suffered debilitating injuries.

Whose the odd one out? Lawrence, cos he's still playing.

But there's a second reason why he's the odd one out. He's the only one that no one has any sympathy for, the only one out of the 3 whose name has become a punchline and that people love to use as a punching bag.

I have a question. If Dwyer or Tuiaki ever made comebacks, i'm sure there wouldn't have been one supporter who wouldn't have peed themselves with excitement. What if those 2 did comeback and they struggled as Lawrence has? Would people be equally as brutal on a guy who almost was resigned to a wheelchair and another who had his foot shattered?

This is where the lack of empathy for Rowdy really becomes frustrating, cos the injury he suffered was no ordinary run of the mill injury. He was almost crippled. His hip dislocated, he was unfortunate enough not to have it pop back in, it had to be manipulated and he had to be sedated. His screams were heard from the stands, and he was still screaming as they put him into the ambulance. His injury was one of the more horrific injuries of the last few yrs. Yet no one seems to accept the similarities between he and Tuiaki and Dwyer.

All i ask is the next time you take a cheap shot at the guy, ask yourself if you'd do the same to Dwyer or Tuiaki if they made comebacks and weren't the same players.

Admiral post.

However I feel if either Tuiaki and or Dwyer did come back and performed below standard yet kept getting picked they would cop the same as Lawrence.

It's hard being on a forum, but maybe we should make a gentlemens agreement amongst all of us to lay off him for at least 5 weeks of the comp. No one can make that happen but personally I'll sign up now to giving him a genuine chance.

One thing I would like to say in regards to Lawrence is…...a few trot out the line "a hip injury doesn't make u drop the ball"....well this emplies he has bad hands when in actual fact he has had lovely hands in the past with a very nice catch n pass motion at speed. So what's the reason for his poor handling? It's not skill, it CONFIDENCE. Once your confidence is gone so does your hands. So ill give him 5 weeks to build that confidence. Hope others are with me.

Absolutely Sirro, his confidence has been shot the last couple yrs. Probably stemming from him knowing his body can't do what it use to do. I'm not saying no one should be critical of his selection, but the guy almost suffered permanent damage while wearing our jersey. If that isn't enough, the fact everyone loved him before the injury shows just how fickle they are now that those same people want to disown him and get just down right nasty in the process.

That last sentence isn't suppose to come across as a true supporter statement of ''don't bag our players''. Bag them all you like, but think before you lay the boot into some and ask yourself if they really deserve it.

If we are talking about admirable things to do..

Maybe Lawrence should have retired knowing how much the injury has affected him and given the club some salary cap relief.

Sorry, but just because you get a bad injury, don't expect a free pass of sympathy for life if your out on the field most week missing tackles and dropping the ball.

No one has said he is not a nice bloke, or a good trainer, or great player pre injury. Its nothing personal.
