OFFICIAL Simon Dwyer [Discussion]

Simon is a part of our great club forever. Just as Tuiaki will always be. I believe there should be some sort of fund set up for career ending injuries, or at the very least 10-20% of their current contract for a further 5 years! This is something the commission should be working on, not chasing idiots like Folau and SBW!

I think either clubs and/or players pay into insurance for these situations.

I hate that Dwyer has become a lesson for other players. We knew he had the goods on the field but since the tackle we have seen a guy who does not know how to give up and keeps at it. Such a shame.

Other than not being able to have a toss with his right hand the dude isn't having the worst life ever. He won a massive poker tournament, has a job at Wests Tigers, is mates with the Tigers, still gets spoken of in the paper, coached City. Dudes going okay. He'd still be pretty happy most of the time I reckon.

He is working with the club as a statistician..unfortunately his footy career is over…and his has yet to regain full movement in his arm...but its getter better slowly.....

Thought he was on the mend. Now we'll have throw him on the list with TNT as the most exciting Tigers prospects to have their careers cut short due to injury.

yep really sad, lets hope that things like this never happens again. Whether it is to a Tigers player or any other clubs player, it is never nice to see someone go off like that.

I served him at work a couple of weeks ago, he still has limited mobility in his arm.
My cousin copped the same injury when he was born, and he has never gained mobility in his arm.
So I am not surprised to hear his footy days are over. Very sad but good to see the club is looking after him.

Has anyone got any news on him?

I last saw him afew months ago walking around Macarthur Square and he still had his arm in a sling.

I understand that progress will be slow but I was wondering if anyone had heard any fresh news on how he's going?

Thanks in advance.

Arm is still in the sling.. most reports are he will never play again..

I assume he would have some involvement with the club still, unless that ceased when sheens left.

What kind of news are you looking for? If its about him playing again its been well known for a long time he'll never return

Simon does the game day stats for NYC and NRL tea. Se him in the coaches box all the time. Good to see the club looking after him and keeping him involved on a week to week basis.

I'm not worried about his chances of playing, I know they are more or less in tatters, unfortunately.

I was just wondering if anyone knew how his health and recovery were going in general. Also if he was still involved with the club in any capacity. It's such a shame what happened, a freak injury, but I just hope he can get back to 100% physically, not for footy but for him.

Spoke to him round 2 months ago…
Has movement in his shoulder, can lift, rotate etc same with the elbow.
But still can't move his fingers.
Said the sling could be coming off in a few months, Which could be anytime now....

The best thing I've seen is that he is moving on and taking his footy brain in another direction.

Seems like he has moved past the charity stage of employment and is a valuable member of the club again. He just seems like the sort of bloke to do everything at 110% which is what we saw on the field. If he attacks the coaching side I'm sure he will rise to the top with perseverance.
