Simona or Nofo

What is it with tigers fullbacks not being able to stay on their feet? Caine, McDonald. Its a tough position and he's tiny I'm already sick of seeing him getting bashed, I can see him spending a lot of time injured. Wish him all the best but I can't really see what everyone else has.

Let's see, he's run over 100m in almost every game he's played at fullback. Been very good under the high ball bar that one against sharks, even in very poor conditions. He's had solid support play and this is all while going under the needle for 3 games, having several niggling injuries for many weeks which he is still suffering from AND recovering from a knee reconstruction which didn't go too well as he had to have follow up surgery end of last year.

Oh and he's 20 years old.

Teddy will shine once he plays on a dry track and behind a injury free pack!!

teddy will be fine , don't worry about him

the forwards are slowly gaining parity and once we start getting some drier weather we will be fine

I knew this would happen with Teddy, People were talking him up as the next Billy Slater and expecting the world from him. It was extremely premature and unfair. The kid is learning how to play first grade and is doing a good job. The key is patience…just as it should be with Koro. Nofo has taken to firsts like a duck to water and that is awesome to see but all players are different and need time to show what they are made of. Teddy is courageous, good under the high ball and is starting to play make as well.

I wouldnt drop any of the young blokes unless their form warrants it. At the moment, their form does not.

Agree with this….as for accommodating Koro at the moment he should develop his game in NSW cup unless there is a drop in form or injury to our current wingers/centres

IMHO, our best back line is:

1 Tedesco
2 Nofoaluma
3 Reddy
4 Simona
5 Koroibete

With Tedesco at FB we finally get proper kick return, he runs 100m a game, something we did not see since Hodgson.
Reddy is better defensive option than Ayshford, and arguably safer bomb catcher, while Lawrence even with improved defence, does not offer much in attack (compared with Simona).
Nofoaluma and Koroibete give us big advantage on kick returns and Koroibete is probably our strongest attacking weapon.

Go Tigers :sign:

Our best win of the Season so far & people want to chop & change, Leave the back 5 as they are thanks & they will get even better.

I wouldn't drop Tedesco unless he really starts to go downhill. He has been steady and shown glimpses of whats to come.

Now is the season to let him adjust and learn.

I never seen a fellow fall over so often.would be nice to see him make a break sometime soon.

Too harsh on teddy. I was a bit iffy about him a few weeks ago but he is getting much better.
As for the centre / wing issue, there is no way either Simona or noff should be out of the side. Both are performing way to well so I would go with koro and Simona on the wings with noff and Lawrence in the centres with ayshford on the bench.
I just couldn't have either out of the starting side. Particularly noff. It's like every time he gets the ball he is damaging. He is so good.

Good backline. Richards will come into the calculations as well. Besides being a very good winger he is a very, very good goalkicker..

Simona could move to the centres with Nofo with Pat going to the wing and Lawrence to fullback ( where he has played for Australian Schoolboys). However, there is no one better at freeing up our wingers than Lawrence. So either Nofo or Richards could go to fullback and the other to the wing. I would lean a little towards Richards for fullback as we need lots of pace on the wings which we would have with Koro/Simona/Nofo.

I am not sold on Tedesco. He does not seem to be able to stand on his feet. Maybe he needs longer studs. He gets smashed to often for my liking and a stint in reserve grade would not hurt him.

Ayshford will not pass the ball to anyone and should be moved to the forwards, where he should be very hard to handle.

Good problems to have for any coach, especially with Brooks, Sironen, Moses, Lovett, Santi, Cherrington, Hitchcox and Mulcahy coming through.

It is rare to have everyone fit and available.
I think that Simona is currently playing very well, but feel that Noffa is clearly the better long term option.

Moving forward someone will miss out, but alot of football to be played between now and then.

I see all over this forum criticism of Teddesco which is harsh and IMO due to a hyped up introduction of him by those excited by his rise through the lower grades.

SImona and Nofo are both long term buddy, Simona is 22 I think.

This is the truth. I had never seen the kid play before he was elevated in round 1 last year and was happy with his half hour. Those that knew of him were relentless in their praise and that may be why those who are new to him are a little bewildered by the hype. He is going ok and the potential is there to see. People need to lay off him and let him have a go. Reassess at the conclusion of this year.

Now is the time to bag on him? Really? His last game was the best game he played in our colours. He finally started chiming into the backline and the cut out ball to Noffa was very good but overshadowed by Noffas good work. He has been very handy under the high ball and runs the ball back straight to eat up as much metres as possible. Looking good in my eyes.

I'm happy for Ayshford to stay at centre. Runs hard and bumps off tacklers. Runs holes well too. Not sold on Lawrence yet though…

LAWRENCE is a class player thats totally out of form.

I did see some good signs in defense against Melbourne that points to positive things around the corner.

Teddy has been very good. Safe as houses. Great pass to Nofo for the try. Also great pass to Simona which Tim dropped. He has done everything asked of him. The linebreals will come with time.

Teddy will eventually need to work on support in attack. We haven't had that since hodgo.
Otherwise hes another reick\mcdonnell
For a 20 year old he's mustard. Stick with him see how hes goin after 50 games under his belt.

You're kidding. Take a good look at Tedesco's play, he supports around the ruck far more than Moltzen and is the best support player we've had in quite some time.

I said 'work on'. I didn't mean he was rubbish.
When you've got the right fullback it feels as though you have an extra man on the field. When I say support in attack I'm talking about the sort things that Slater, Barba, Inglis and Stewart can do for their team.

He hasn't even begun to play at that level yet. But his chance will come. He reminds me of a young Anthony Minichello.

He has all the right ingredients; pace, courage, good under the high ball, instinct, positions himself well, defence and vision. The only thing missing at this point is timing and that will come with time on the paddock.

Make no bones about it - he is a goodun'!!

My mistake, i believe they are new players… maybe a certain winger from @Wests_Tigers and another from @brisbanebroncos more on it today
