Simona-show some respect

Maybe the significance of the minutes silence is wearing off on the players? They should draw the line somewhere. Obviously Reg Gasnier deserves hours of it, but when they have one before each game, each round, it starts to lose it's significance, not to mention halting the energy of the stadium right before kick-off. Or mabye im an asshole

Having your hands on your hips and spitting during a minute's silence for the deceased and especially Reg Gasnier was disgusting IMO. some people have no respect, no excuse i think. poor form

Maybe this is was what turned Badger off the Wests Tigers?

Bingo!

They were all surprised this minutes silence was to occur….every player was set to start the game

i noticed this as well. the tigers were all in position waiting for the kick off! poor management not having any of the players know this beforehand. even reed had to tell the broncos about it.

however, i agree that it is only ONE MINUTE to honour someones passing and that it should be no problem whatsoever for anyone to put a little effort into at least looking respectful.

as posted, possibly a tempest in a teacup, but just a quiet word to simona and im sure it will never happen again. he doesnt seem like the type to be deliberately disrespectful…

not at all beej. i actually feel the same way. i mean, yes, he is a legend, but didn't all the minutes silence happen last week?

i agree a line needs to be drawn and sometimes you just have to say, sorry your mums uncles uncle died, but he doesnt warrant a minutes silence.

I think his form is the bigger worry,he doesn't seem any where near the player we re-signed.

yeh agree. not sure whats wrong with him this season? carrying an injury? a little too comfortable?

Goodness me, any criticism of Simona in this instance is petty and juvenile. I thought the ground announcer guy was poor in making it clear what was about to happen. I was in the crowd and had no idea what he expected of us. Give Tim a break FFS. He is a card carrying star of WT in the immediate future.

The whole Reg Gasnier appreciation remembrance has turned into a bit of a disaster really. Think it was Paul Kent who raised this during the week on 360\. It's been a half arsed attempt at remembering an immortal. What a joke! Every club should have had instructions (although you wouldn't think they should need instructions) by the head honcho to have a minutes silence right across the same round. They showed how Melbourne celebrated Tom Haffey's passing down in Melbourne and it was miles ahead of what we our mob dished up. What surprised me about the Storm though, is that they wore black arm bands out of respect for Haffey. Don't think they did so for Gasnier. Our game could do a lot better and bloody well should.

on the tele ,the commentators mentioned two other names which were being honoured by the minutes silence.i only heard reg gasnier's name.

I saw reg gasnier play and yes,he was a deserved immortal.

how many at the ground or playing that game on Friday night could name all of the rugby league immortals ? I'd say, fairly confidently that tim simona couldn't.

I know I couldn't.
It was tokenism by the club and the ground announcer and unfortunately got the response from the crowd and the players it did.
Is tradition and respect important to everyone?
Obviously not.

Simona's playing on the right and his preferred side is the left. He plays much better on the left and I think its affecting his form.

Good point. Very topical.

Nit picking at its best.

I think he has a point.he is from another culture so he may not know the importance of posture in these moments to our culture. The culture that he lives in (Australia) considers the posture of a person in these moments quite important so if i was coach I would certainly tell him.Not his intent to disrespect IM sure but he doesnt want to look like a goose either so someone needs to tell him.

of course, cause New Zealand as basically like growing up in the Middle East. Such a vastly different culture.

in any case, i didnt see it, but it seems like he was fixated on the game. doesn't seem like the kind of person to purposely disrespect the game's icons.

He is of Samoan background.I know samoan funerals are full of song and dance.Imagine if u brought the guitar and beat out a few tunes to gasniers funeral. No disrespect intended to samoans just pointing out how different cultures treat things differently, which brings me back to my original point someone should tell him what australian culture does in this situation.Whether its Tim or Im sure a lot of young anglo aussies doing the same thing now is a good time to just give a gentle reminder of a age old part of our culture that shouldnt be given up and that is posture when paying respect to the dead.Yet again no disrespect to our islander fans or players just highlighting how cultures treat things differently which is a beautiful thing in itself.

get over it , he did not kill anyone or standing dancing on the ground. It was not a good look but I don't think he done anything wrong. Some people have nothing else to do other than nit pick little issues.

Yes he did. He didn't respect the moments silence in a manner in which he should have. It's not hard to stand still for a moment. FFS!
