The way Sheens plays his front rowers and the fact that those three in your backrow are 80 minute players indicates to me that you are one back short on your bench lol.

Anasta isn't in wests colours yet. Don't be surprised if he never is…I'd be happy if that's the case

**Leave Sironen at six, urges his NRL dad**

Paul Sironen believes his son has shown enough to deserve the Wests Tigers No.6 long-term.

Balmain great Paul Sironen has implored Wests Tigers coach Tim Sheens to pick his son Curtis over new recruit Braith Anasta at five-eighth next season.

Sydney Roosters skipper Anasta, who faces the Tigers at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday, will join Sheens' playing group at the end of the season with a desire to wear the No.6, but Sironen believes that jersey belongs to his talented 18-year-old son.

Curtis Sironen, currently sidelined until round 18 with a knee injury, has made a large impression in just three games since debuting in round 12.

At 195cm he is the tallest five-eighth in the NRL and despite weighing in at 95kg he has not yet filled into his large frame.

And it is his considerable size which has some suggesting his future lies in the forwards like his old man.

But Sironen senior does not believe that change needs to be made in the immediate future - and certainly not as a necessity to accommodate Anasta.

"Long-term I don't know, I'd like to think he'd stay at six for the next few years, form warranted," Sironen told AAP.

"I threw him in there when I was a junior coach out of necessity but he's got a lovely pass and he reads the game well.

"That's why he was playing 6 in the early days. He's a footballer and I think he's got a natural instinct.

"It's not something you can just instill in a bloke. If you're a footballer you're a footballer. And I think he's got those natural instincts that allow him to have that good vision."

Regardless of how the pieces fit next year, Sironen predicted the Tigers would boast one of the most lethal attacking lineups in the competition, with Sironen junior and Anasta complimenting captain Robbie Farah, star half Benji Marshall and fullback Tim Moltzen.

"They'll fill the gaps where they have to," he said.

"With (second-rower) Gareth's (Ellis) departure and other bits and pieces, I'm sure they'll need blokes stepping up.

"I'm sure they'll slot them in everywhere and there will be plenty of options. Farah, Anasta, Marshall and the young bloke playing six. You'll have weapons across the park."

Meanwhile, Sheens admitted he is fearful of a referee backlash after the Roosters were victims of several howlers from the match officials against Brisbane last round.

Both whistleblowers from that match, Matt Cecchin and Adam Devcich, were dropped from NRL duties this week and Sheens is concerned his side may suffer from being over-scrutinised as a result.

"Our discipline in the last seven weeks has been great. I'm hoping we don't get over scrutinised by the referees given that two of them are not in first grade this weekend," Sheens told reporters on Saturday.
"I just hope that the one off controversy from last week doesn't have tomorrow's officials nervous about the game."

No reason why Anasta won't be here next year, what are you thinking he will do a Tim Moltzen ?

Sironen is much younger than Anasta. Why would you want Anasta in the forwards on old legs. It makes sense to put Sironen @ lock because he will do more & Anasta @ five eight where he can simply orchestrate the play/s @ in the twilight of his career. We need Anastas mind more than his body. Sironen @ lock. Of course it won't happen. I'm just dreaming.

Anasta at 5/8 - doesn't have the workrate to play in the forwards, or at least hasn't shown it recently
Siro on the bench - he is young, we shouldn't wear him out too soon (he's already had shoulder surgery and minor knee surgery just now)
Lawrence to the pack - could be the closest replacement to Ellis - runs it hard and can but on some good hits but has lost pace and has shown defensive lapses at centre - this move could reignite his career.
Beau to become a permanent centre
Tuqiri to retire and put on of the young wingers

Where is Heighington? No need to not include him, he's our best workhorse and gives 100%, he leads the way for the younger players.
I agree we let Tuquiri go, he is not outstanding and has lost his spark.
What happened to Utai?
I don't think Anasta at lock will utilize his best. He is in peak form at 5/8 for the roosters - today shows example of that.

Sirro @ half & Anasta @ lock for me.

thats what i wanted but it probably wont…

If Sironen plays consistently well for the remainder of the year Sheens will have no choice but to have:

6\. Sironen
7\. Marshall
13\. Anasta

Having Anasta around next year is going to do Sironen wonders in developing his game - he'll be able to teach him a lot of things since they play the same style of game and are around the same size.

Sirro is heaps bigger than braith

Why do our fans want us in the doldrums? I just don't get it.
Anasta cannot be our 5/8!!! He needs to add spark/class to the forwards a'la Payten, Ellis.
I liken Anasta to Jason Croker or Jason Smith- played 5/8 for too long and should've been moved to lock way earlier in his career so that the team didn't rely them so heavily. 5/8 IS A CRUCIAL POSITION AND WE DON'T NEED ANASTA THERE.

Remember - The only reason the Roosters made the G/F was because Carney was at 5/8 - NOT ANASTA. If Anasta is only to play 5/8 then we are WAY better off without him.

re quotes above:
"Anasta @ five eight where he can simply orchestrate the play/s"
Are you out of your mind?

If you really hate the Tigers then I can see how you would be happy for Anasta to play 5/8 for us.

Why you getting so upset. I just think Anasta is too old for the pack, maybe he is not. I'm just throwing it out there. Hey maybe your a more avid Wests supporter than me hence your anger, but at my age there's more to life than football. Take a chill pill. The world will go on I assure you with or without Anasta @ five eight or lock. Bad day at work? Or bad day at school? Just don't know.

I have taken my pills so I am calm now. Tigers are just a very emotional subject to me.

And seriously mate, you must be passionate because you post on these forums. Would you **really** be happy with Anasta at 5/8? or were you just throwing it out there?

Bill Shankly said "Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that."

American - the world WILL go on either way. I just prefer a world where Anasta is not our 5/8.

*don't know Where to play Moltzen. We have utility in Fulton in case of a injury through out a game , also have Anasta and Beau Ryan is quite handy . I know this won't happen as 90% of the time Sheens plays 3 reserves. I like an extra forward on the bench. Look at the other players i couldn't find spots for Reddy , Groat , Bell , Lawrence from the Titans . Wow talk about depth plus the under 20's coming through. Healthy head ache to have i think. I think we will probably lose some of our good under 20's if not given a go and might live to regret it (e.g Miller) but what do you do….

Hey BS, yeh, maybe you don't have to be a lock to play lock. I'll keep an open mind on this. Either way I'm content. Take care brother.

Out: Lote Tuqiri, Chris Heighington, Ben Murdoch-Masila, Matt Bell, Junior Moors and Matt Utai (but he was close).

Utai offers plenty but I think we need to look towards the future more, but he can be safely assured he's done enough for another club to offer him a lifeline I'm sure. Ryan is experienced on one flank and it's time to bring in a superstar rookie winger. Nofoaluma is the better of he and Koroibete. Ayshford and Lawrence have struggled this season but we've seen what they can do in the past and I think by the end of this season they'll have both reclaimed their spots. Heighington just doesn't offer what the other options can. BMM and Junior Moors have shown glimpses of being great but need to do more than that. Moors I would move on. BMM I would keep around as a fringe player because he can still improve. Matt Bell I'd keep around as a fringe player because he's an honest toiler. Lote obviously has to go. Kyle Lovett is a big, no nonsense rawbone kid that could be the next Tariq Sims style breakout player if his transition is anything to go by and I've heard great things about his work ethic.

Basically the side is the best balance I could come up with to mix in some talented fresh blood without completely disrupting the Tigers style. Blair will be far better at Heighington's current job than he has been at whatever job he's been given (ie none). Anasta is fully capable of playing a running backrow role on the edge that Ellis plays (and if he isn't a success we have Pettybourne and Thompson to give it a crack). Moltzen is our perfect bench utility and deserves a spot somewhere. Initially I had him in the halves with Benji and Sirro in the forwards instead of Anasta (who was the bench player) but I think Sirro doesn't offer what we need in the backrow as much as he offers what we need in the 6 jersey.

@tig_prmz said:
if they think curtis' future is in the backrow, they should move him there now imo.

We have about 8 back rowers that could hold their own in FG for next season but no one that has looked as promising in the halves alongside benji tig, probably the wrong time to move him. BMM, Heighno, Fults, Bodene, Pettybourne, Bell, Moors and hopefully Anasta.
