Sironens Defence

Firstly before everyone jumps at me, i think tonight was a very positive experience and showed a lot of promoting signs for next yer and i am also a huge siren fan.

But…...

I have a real concern about his defence.

I could be wrong but i think all three second half tries involve bad misses by him. He's had a few really bad clangers in other games as well where people start to get outside him and he looks like he almost gives up.

He's great 1on1 if they run straight at him but he really seems to struggle with Lateral movement and to be honest i think a little bit of lack of effort?

Worries me a little as i think he will be a crucial part of the second row next year and will be a great attacking weapon but his defence scares me a little

Here's hoping we get a good defensive coach! Our attack has flowed quite well in the second half of the year and will only improve over the off-season. I can definitely see siro pushing for rep honors in 2014 and 2015.

Under 20's stuff. With a good defensive coach all those young players will really hit the mark. Their teamwork in attack is very exciting

Totally agree, something to work on. I've said before that i don't see him as a 13, while others love putting every 2nd forward at lock for some reason.

I want to see him fulfill a SBW like role, not bad in defence but primarily a ball playing second rower who can fill in at 5/8 if needed (SBW has done that before this season). Also, with a handy offload.

I'll be stoked if he becomes half as good as SBW.

This was always going to be the case when he was switched to the backrow. It is not as easy as people think. He will be alright.

Geez the kids only 19 years old. Give him a chance. No one is a complete player at that age.

We're lucky he's as strong as he is in attack already.

No one is saying they expect him to be. But his defence cost us tonight. By the middle of the second half Sam Burgess was looking for Siro each run.

I think everyone wants to give him a chance.

absolutely, i wasn't really having a go at him…. I think the kid'll be a superstar.

He really needs to work on his defence though, I'm hoping he's just a bit tentative with the shoulder is all it is.

He has played 20 first grade games and has been awesome for a 19 year old. Nxt year will be his year. The critisium is un fair. All the boys played their guts out. Some poor refering and match fitness cost us. At least we can go with the best team in the comp for 50 odd minutes. Siro will be a champion no doubt about it. But I keep saying you don't know what you are doing in the NRL until you play 50 NRL games. ala BMM just cracked the 50 and look at him go.

His defense was definately a little poor last night but that will improve. He's a young bloke doing pretty good things in the forwards.
