Sirro

The only "head that will roll" will be Potters should he lose too many early games, partly because of key players being injured. At this stage no-one cares about the "whys"..just the results
If he's allowed the kid to play injured in a 9s comp(& he's the boss & has the final say),he may be contributing to his own demise…

So we go into a 9's tournament with no game plan and we throw caution to the wind and play a player that isn't 100% fit , oh dear and now pay the price.
I understand injuries will happen but to play someone that isn't 100% fit that supposedly needed needled up to take the field Is bad Management from the club, in my opinion

Yep poor call by Potter.. The buck stops with him

The club doctor would of given Sironen the final clearance for him to play

Potter is a coach , not a physician He wants to best squad available at all times Especially when you are talking $100000 + dollars for a broke club

That's not quite true mate

Doctor gives him medical opinion if he should play or not. He can be over ruled by coach and I know this has happened before. Doctor can say unfit to play. And guess what. Next minute. Player is on the field.

How much was known by Potter, the Medical staff, Tedesco and even Sironen himself about the extent of his injury before the game? What did Sironen tell others when it was first injured? Who's to say he didn't downplay it so he could get a game? Who hasn't downplayed an injury or illness only to regret it later? I know I have. Who's to say he didn't have a hairline fracture, and a little bit of pain, that got jammed in the last tackle and broken severely? But hey that's no fun let's bay for blood!!

Can't imagine his father would be to happy about what has happened.
Who is the new Doc ? I would be laying the blame directly at him…he would have been the person giving the needle.
Potter would be just guided by his advice as would young Sirro.
Sorry but not even Potter's harshest critics can blame him for this one.

His only been doing a few games and already blame starts on someone you think has the final say. A lot of blame game playing and not even round two.

Am I right in saying you haven't done a medical degree. So who are u to judge what happened or how it happened or what potter may or may not know.

Yeah didn't word that well sorry Rexx

What I meant to say was the Doc gives his opinion whether he should or shouldn't play

Guessing this has happened with quite a few players over the years

Farah and that Souths game comes to mind

Benji and his shoulder

Gareth Ellis and his groin

Anyone who has seen the movie "Any Given Sunday " would see what pressures are placed on club doctors by coaches ,players , even upper management

How could you guys automatically assume that he has aggravated his original injury? It could be a totally new and different injury to that he brought into the game. Tedesco was interviewed after the game, how would he know what the injury was. Toooooo many assumptions. Just saying

if this is the case its beyond a joke. players always want to play games. its up to the coaches to do the smart thing and over rule them. even if sirro was 90% fit it was stupid to play him in a nothing tournament.

the fact that tedescos interview has been taken down makes it even more suss.

He was tackled and his foot was pointing towards the ground…toes at the bottom, heel upright - vertical...a player landed on it...nowhere for it to go...a bit like Halataus injury.
Wouldve happened regardless

i think this is exactly right, and reading through subsequent posts it looks like people are either not reading this, or are just not willing to accept it?

if the toe was broken prior, i find it completely reasonable he would want to play in the 9s as part of his build up to the season to get some game time into him. this season it seems there are only 2 inter club trials and the 9s - not much pre season game situation time available - and there is not much more damage you can do to a broken toe. if you can play through the pain (needled or not) then its still beneficial to do so.

i said in an earlier post that it had to be a meta tarsal, which is simply a different injury in a similar part of the body which is making people say he exacerbated the pre existing injury.

as ink said, this was just one of those injuries that just happened, much like marshall's shoulder and a lot of acl injuries.

there is no blame to be placed anywhere in my view: it is just unfortunate.

THis.

People assuming its related

How do we know it wouldnt have happened had he been 100% fit, no prior injury.

We dont…it might have, it may not have

Players play injured all the time, its called injury & pain management....players also have to get game time under their belts in pre season ...its a balance

Tedesco said it how it is. He did the injury at training and was desperate to play so he risked it with an injection. They are the facts. Ill go with that rather then the spin of some supporters trying to same it was completely unrelated. Its poor practice by us. There is a reason the interview can no longer be seen. I don't care if the injury is unrelate to be honest, giving a young bloke a needle in a mickey mouse series because he is desperate to play is poor practice, and i doubt is happening at other NRL clubs.

Please someone leading the defence tell me that giving a needle to a young bloke carrying an injury in the mickey mouse 9s is a good idea?! Forget about related, unrelated, balance, juggling, risks etc. Just ask yourselves that question.

His old man has been around footy all his life…works for the club...I'm sure if he thought his son wasn't being looked after he wouldn't sit by idly, twiddling his thumbs
Show me proof it's related eddy..and then you might have something...As it currently stands you have nothing but a conspiracy theory

Conspiracy theories are treated as damning evidence in this forum.
