SKANDO KEEPS FAITH IN YOUNG PROPS

Former premiership winning Wests Tigers prop John Skandalis has no doubt young front-rowers Aaron Woods and Matt Groat will deliver against Canberra Raiders on Monday night.
Woods and Groat were the subject of intense criticism this week after St George-Illawarra ripped through the middle of the Wests Tigers forwards in their win last Friday night. The loss of Australian Test prop Keith Galloway and England back-rower Gareth Ellis made the task even harder for the young props.
Now the Wests Tigers NRL High Performance Manager, Skandalis is confident Woods and Groat can bounce back hard at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.
“We have got a lot of faith in them and they just have got to make sure they are doing the little things right,’’ Skandalis said.
“They are great front-rowers and future representative players. They will do the job for us and I’m looking forward to a big game from them.
“Defence has been a big focus this week. It wasn’t the front-rowers at fault. It was the whole team. It is an old cliché, it’s not just one person lets you down, it is the whole 17.
“We have been working hard and the front-rowers have assured us they can do the job and we believe them.
“You could name 6 or 7 guys who were off their game last Friday night. It is just a matter of how they respond to it on Monday.”
Skandalis' Club record of 185 games will be equalled by lock Chris Heighington on Monday night.
